The Magazine Club is a group of open-minded people who love reading, movies, music and anything worth talking about. So Joy Bewaji, the host, invited me to their November meet-up and I was able to make it. I even sat on the high table and asnwered question on relationships as if I knew anything! LOL.. It was a really fun outing as the pictures below testify.

President Barack and Michelle Obama - Over 20 Years of Marriage and Still Going Strong
Barack and Michelle just give me joy every time I see them and especially when they step out together. The couple are holding hands almost every time you see them, and the genuine smiles are Iinfectious. They're so inspiring for any up and coming couple on what being a team in marriage means. Gushing over, let me say to the naysayers, forget Scandal. That is fiction, this is real. LOL...

The Best of Nollywood (BON) 2013 Holds Awards Ceremony in Asaba
Asaba has a rising profile as one of the thriving locations for Nollywood movies, and this must have informed the decision by the Best of Nollywood awards organizers to hold the award ceremony there. And it makes me proud since I'm from Asaba, and I'm of the opinion that more events should happen outside Lagos. Below are more pictures from the event and some of the winners.

It's awards season in the Hollywood calendar and black actors are very well represented this year, with many of them and their movies being touted for top honors at the Oscars. Chiwetel Ejiofor in Twelve Years a Slave, Idris Elba in Mandela's biopic, Long Walk to Freedom, and Micheal B. Jordan in Fruitvale Station, a story based on the true life murder of a young black man in urban America.

Uche Jombo was with her husband Kenny Rodriguez in the States a few months ago before she returned for the festivals and awards season in Nigeria. She shared this picture of them together with the tags, #Mr&MrsRodriguez #AboutThatTimeOfTheYear #XmasIsUponUs #LetTheFunTimesBegin. I won't be surprised if she'll soon be on her way back to the United States to spend Christmas with her husband. We're loving her laugh and outfit in this picture...

Memorial Service For Nelson Mandela at the Aso Villa Chapel, Abuja
Someone said Goodluck Jonathan was Nigeria's Mandela which I think is ill advised, as only history will prove that. President Jonathan himself who was in Paris when news of Mandela's death was announced was more officious. He declared three days of national mourning with flags to be flown at half mast, which was fitting considering the historical ties between Nigeria and South Africa, and Nelson Mandela n particular. The three days culminated in a memorial service for the late Mandela held yesterday at the Aso Villa Chapel, Abuja. Mandela will be buried in SA, December 15. May his soul rest in peace.
