Yul Edochie is the son of Veteran actor Pete Edochie, and had now been working in Nollywood for several years, he won the City People award for best actor in July. It's awards season in the Hollywood calendar and black actors are very well represented this year, with many of them and their movies being touted for top honors at the Oscars. Chiwetel Ejiofor in Twelve Years a Slave, Idris Elba in Mandela's biopic, Long Walk to Freedom, and Micheal B. Jordan in Fruitvale Station, a story based on the true life murder of a young black man in urban America.
