#DontProvoke! @stephenasmith Apologizes For Saying Women Provoke Men To Domestic Violence

Using the hashtag #dontprovoke, vocal women challenged @StephenASmith, who had said earlier that there could be justifications for domestic violence. He has now apologized.

Stephen A. Smith,  a panelist on ESPN, was first called out by his female colleague @MichelleDBeadle on Twitter following his commentary on domestic violence during today's “First Take” TV programme. He had asserted that women sometimes provoke domestic violence against them while discussing the two-game suspension handed to Baltimore Ravens' player, Ray Rice, for assaulting his partner.

Here on RML, we have zero tolerance for domestic violence. There is no excuse, PERIOD!

Police Involvement In DaGrin's Death Uncovered By Sahara Reporters

The circumstances which led to the death of DaGrin in 2010 have now been revealed to be part of a disturbing pattern of illegal activity by police at Alakara Station in Mushin.

The eyewitnesses, who said they were first to reach the scene of the road crash to assist, insist that Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun also known as "Dagrin" did not drunkenly crash into a truck parked at the side of the road as put out by police.

Instead, the truck driver had been stopped  in the middle of the road by Police who were demanding bribes. Unfortunately, the truck had no back lights and the late musician had plowed into it unknowingly.

They said the policemen deliberately covered-up their role in the accident, by recreating an artificial accident scene by the side of the road for the world to see the next morning.

A young witness, a man, agreed to speak with SaharaReporters on the condition of anonymity.

Pope Francis today showed again how much a pope of the people he is when he joined Vatican employees for lunch in the cafetaria. He even stood in line and served himself!

Just yesterday, the Pope met with Meriam Ibrahim and her family whom he thanked for "their courageous demonstration of constancy of faith" [see pics].

I wish more leaders had the down to earth spirit of the Pope. He shows everyday that he is just a man, and lives and teaches by example. This is true humility.

Mysterious White Flags Replace The Two American Flags On Top Of Brooklyn Bridge

Two white flags, the international symbols of surrender, flew for several hours earlier this week on top of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. 

The mysterious flags fluttered from the poles which usually fly the American flags on top of the stone supports of the bridge connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The flags had a faint appearance of the stars and stripes, leading some to conclude that the real American flags had been bleached. Others believe the American flags that are normally up at the bridge had been removed.

Construction workers first spotted the white flags and notified authorities. Cops took down the flags at about noon. Several officers scaled the bridge and lowered one of the whitewashed flags at about 11 a.m. and the second about 20 minutes later.

A 13-year-old North Texas girl was awoken in the night by a smoldering cell phone under her pillow after she put it in there before she fell asleep.

Ariel Tolfree said; “I didn’t think much of it, so I went back to sleep and then I woke up again and it was more prominent.”

Tolfree’s dad believes the phone overheated, causing the battery to swell and ignite a small fire.

Reacting, the cell phone manufacturer (a Samsung S4) says she did something they warn users about, never put your phone in a place where it might not get enough air!

Mother, Rosdeep Adekoya Admits She Killed 3 Year Old Son and Then Reported Him Missing

The mother of three-year-old Mikaeel Kular has admitted killing her son and hiding his body in a suitcase, sparking a major search operation.

Mikaeel died two days after being beaten by Rosdeep Adekoya, 34, at the family's flat in Edinburgh in January.

She put his body in a suitcase, which she dumped behind her sister's house 20 miles away in Kirkcaldy, Fife.

However, she told police that Mikaeel had disappeared from her home, leading to a major two-day search.

Adekoya had originally been charged with murder, but admitted the reduced charge of culpable homicide when she appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh. Sentence was deferred until 25 August.

17 Year Old Pilot Dies With His Father In Attempt To Set World Record Flight

A teenager attempting to set a record for an around-the-world flight has died with his father after their plane crashed over the Pacific Ocean.

The plane flown by 17-year-old Haris Suleman went down shortly after leaving Pago Pago in American Samoa Tuesday night. Only Suleman and his father, Babar Suleman, were on board.

The Sulemans left the States on June 19 in hopes of making the trip in 30 days to set the record for the fastest circumnavigation around the world in a single-engine airplane with the youngest pilot in command to do so.

Haris had been flying with his father since age 8 and had recently acquired his pilot's license and instrument rating, which authorized him to fly an aircraft over oceans.

Ebola Virus Now In Nigeria? How To Keep Yourself And Family Safe

The Lagos State government had earlier issued an alert to residents of the state over the deadly virus currently sweeping through some west African countries, including Liberia.

The state Ministry of Health yesterday said that a Liberian man in his 40s was being tested for the deadly Ebola virus in Lagos. This would be the first recorded case of one of the world's deadliest diseases in Nigeria.
 
Briefing newsmen on the case, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Public Health, Dr Yewande Adeshina said the Liberian man being tested for the Ebola Virus is currently at a private hospital in Obalende, Lagos.

She said the man has been isolated and the hospital vicinity cordoned off and that 30 other people are also being tested for possible contact with the deadly virus.

Meriam Ibrahim Arrives Italy To Meet The Pope Who Praises Her Courage and Steadfast Faith

Meriam Ibrahim, who was released from a death sentence for renouncing Islam by the Sudanese Supreme Court, is in Italy and has met with Pope Francis.

On arrival, the 27-year-old and her family were received at the pope’s guesthouse for about 30 minutes. According to a statement released by the Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi;

“The pope thanked Meriam and her family for their courageous demonstration of constancy of faith. Meriam gave thanks for the great support and comfort which she received from the prayers of the pope and of many other people who believe and are of good will.”

“With this gesture the pope wished also to show his closeness, attention and prayer for all those who suffer because of their faith and in particular Christians who suffer persecution or restriction to their freedom of religion.”

A new study published in the July issue of Cognitive Science claims that "young children who are exposed to religion have a hard time differentiating between fact and fiction."

The study found that children who went to church or were enrolled in a parochial school were significantly less able than secular children to identify supernatural elements, such as talking animals, as fictional.
