The poem, which Juliet calls Floetry, gives a voice to the woman at home toiling to make her home and feeling unsatisfied and underappreciated. The woman in the poem knows when she's had all she can carry, and what she needs to do in order to find herself. Enjoy the poem below...

The Length Of A Man's Index Finger Affects How He Treats Women - Study

Posted in: , , ,

It seems that the shorter a guy's index finger is compared to his ring finger, the more likely he is to be nice to women, or so says a strange new study according to HuffPo. This means that men whose index fingers and ring fingers are close in length, or whose index fingers are longer than their ring fingers, may be more likely to be antagonistic to women.

Dr. Debbie Moskowitz, a psychology professor at McGill University in Montreal and the study's lead author, said in a written statement,

"When with women, men with smaller ratios [of index to ring finger] were more likely to listen attentively, smile and laugh, compromise or compliment the other person."

Charles Soludo Slams GEJ & Buhari - 'The Real Debate is Still Not Happening'

Posted in: , , ,

By Charles Soludo

I need to preface this article with a few clarifications. I have taken a long sabbatical leave from partisan politics, and it is real fun watching the drama from the balcony.  Having had my own share of public service (I do not need a job from government), I now devote my time and energy in pursuit of other passions, especially abroad.

A few days ago, I read an article in Thisday entitled “Where is Charles Soludo?”, and my answer is that I am still there, only that I have been too busy with extensive international travels to participate in or comment on our national politics and economy.

9 Reasons African Women Are Not Married - Chauvinist Naija Man

Posted in: , , ,

A male chauvinist Nairaland user posted these 9 reasons in his opinion why he believes African women and Nigerian women in particular do not get married. Most of it hinge around controlling the personality and activities of the women, and elevating the status of the men.

Supposedly, African men are looking for househelps and slaves, and many women these days refuse to demean themselves and that is why they are not married. I read it and shook my head, good for the women then, right? We women need to keep our heads high and live self-fulfilling lives. However, on second thought, maybe there are women who actually think like this? I decided to share it here, so you my dear readers can decide if  you agree.

What Flying Business Class, Aisle, Middle or Window Seat Says About You

Posted in: ,

By Leah Ginsberg, Yahoo Travel

Choosing your seat on airplane is a big deal. People obsessively check SeatGuru.com before picking a seat or even pay more for a certain position on the plane.

Why? “It’s a rare opportunity to have some control over your environment when traveling,” explains psychologist and University of Washington professor Jonathan Bricker, Ph.D. “That’s very significant for the traveler.”

Indeed – ask someone whether they’re an aisle or window person, and they don’t hesitate to answer.
So Yahoo Travel researched, asked the experts, and picked the brains of frequent fliers to find out what your seat choice says about you.

The Top 5 Best Actresses In Nollywood 2014

Posted in: , , ,

By Charles Novia

As 2014 comes to an end, I and a few professional critics, keeping to the criteria we used last year, have drawn up a list once again for 2014. We watched quite a number of films which were considered outstanding and through a professional process of elimination, shortlisted names were finally arrived at.

May I state here that these actresses on this list have been judged on universal  templates for acting and not on what I term ‘perceived popularity’on red carpets, social media or feisty fan clubs. There is a clear difference between being an overt socialite with tepid performances in afterthought movies ‘just to be relevant’ and wholeheartedly taking the business of acting seriously.

Yoruba Ladies Have the Biggest Butts - Charles Novia

Posted in: , ,

Charles Novia is a veteren Nollywood filmmaker and culture critic, and in one of his recent essays, he focuses on women's backsides around the world. He says international stars who have big butts can hold no candle to African women who are naturally endowed since the curves of foreign stars are usually artificially enhanced.

He explains that Nicki Minaj, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez should be jealous of Mercy Johnson, Yvonne Okoro and a lot of African women – especially Yoruba women. He didn't mention Omotola but I think she's a great example, lol...Read his piece below...
