Etcetera in his weekly column for
PUNCH Newspapers had called out AfroCandy on the allegations that she is a porn star and then compared that favorably to being a prostitute. From there, the musician turned writer took a dig at certain celebrities who he listed as having lent their services to political campaigns for monetary gain, calling them political prostitutes.
Etcetera wrote that celebrities supporting political candidates was irrelevant, as people were unlikely to change their support on the basis of celebrity jingles. He went ahead to call names including, "Olamide, Banky W, Don Jazzy, Flavour, Duncan Mighty, D banj, Mercy Johnson, Ibinabo, Ini Edo, Mama Gee, Naeto C, Joseph Yobo, Daddy Showkey, Kanu Nwankwo, and Sammie Okposo."
