Salt Water Is NOT Ebola Cure! Read Apolgy of Prankster Who Started The Text Messages

Posted in: , ,

I received the same broadcast messages from a couple of my BBM contacts in Nigeria which say that I must bathe with warm salty water before going out for the day. They read in full;

‘Please ensure that you and your family and all your neighbours bath with hot water and salt before daybreak today because of Ebola virus which is spreading through the air.’

Please people, can we stop spreading panic and misinformation?

Scientific research has confirmed that there is no known cure for the Ebola Virus except the two experimental drugs in the United States of America that may improve outcomes. An inconclusive research carried out in 1989 by a team led by a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Maurice Iwu indicated that bitter kola may have some effects.

Monkey Selfie Causes Copyright Controversy Between Wikimedia and Photographer

Posted in: ,

In 2011, British photographer David Slater traveled to Indonesia to take pictures of the crested black macaque, and he succeeded. Not only did they accept him into their troop and allow him to take pictures of them, but also during the expedition, one of the monkeys went to where the photographer left his equipment, hijacked a camera and took hundreds of selfies.

Most of the selfies were no good, but a few of them were in focus and fantastic.

Now, David Slater is in a fight with the Wikimedia Foundation about the monkey selfie. They have posted the photo online in their collection of public domain images and refuse to take it down. It argues that "Slater doesn’t own the picture’s copyright because he didn’t take the picture—the monkey did. And since the monkey can’t own the rights, nobody does."

Check out the selfies below, and discuss in the comments who you think owns the images.

Below are excerpts from the interview:

What’s your philosophy about marriage?

It’s always about family, whatever you do; it must always be about family. Even when you think of misbehaving, always have your family at the back of your mind. Because if you lose everything in the world and you still have your family, there are chances you will find some form of happiness and rebuild. But if you gain everything in the world and lose your family, the chances that you will be able to rebuild may be practically impossible.
