Bigger Weddings And Fewer Premarital Partners Could Lead To Better Quality Marriages

Posted in: , ,

Bigger and more formal weddings can predict happier marriages, a US study has found, with clear results showing that couples who had larger ceremonies had higher-quality marriages.

They believe that marrying in front of a large number of people demonstrates greater commitment to the union while also discouraging divorce. Said lead author Dr Galena Rhoades;

“There is some reason to believe that having more witnesses at a wedding may actually strengthen marital quality. We try to keep our present attitudes and behaviours in line with our past conduct. The desire for consistency is likely enhanced by public expressions of intention.

“Weddings may foster support for the new marriage from within a couple’s network of friends and family. Those who hold a formal wedding are likely to have stronger social networks in the first place.”

Reading 50 Shades Linked To Abusive Relationships, Binge Drinking And Eating Disorders

Posted in: , ,

A university professor has posited in a study that young women who read the "50 Shades" books are more likely than nonreaders to exhibit signs of eating disorders and have a verbally abusive partner.

The study, which appears in the Journal of Women’s Health, is one of the first to investigate the relationship between health risks and reading popular fiction depicting violence against women. The study's lead investigator is Amy Bonomi of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. She says;

“We recognize that the depiction of violence against women in and of itself is not problematic, especially if the depiction attempts to shed serious light on the problem. The problem comes when the depiction reinforces the acceptance of the status quo, rather than challenging it.”

The study states also that women who read all three books in the “Fifty Shades” erotic romance series are at increased risk of engaging in binge drinking and having multiple sex partners.

Mom Gives Her Daughter Tapeworm Pills To Make Her Lose Weight For Beauty Contest

The story of a Florida pageant mom who fed her teenage daughter tapeworm eggs to help her lose weight for an upcoming beauty competition is narrated by a disgusted nurse in an upcoming episode of Discovery's “Untold Stories of the ER.”

When the girl arrived at the hospital with a bloated stomach and severe pain, the nurses first thought she might be pregnant. An ultrasound didn’t show a baby, but it did show a bizarre growth in her intestines, and a trip to the bathroom revealed a toilet bowl full of wriggly tapeworms.

Nurse Maricar Cabral-Osorio told UPI, “some of the worms were very long and wiggling around trying to get out of the toilet bowl.” The girl’s mother turned white as a sheet with guilt written all over her.

Charles Novia, Joselyn Dumas, Yvonne Nelson Denounce #ALSIceBucketChallenge By African Celebs

When I posted about the Nigerian celebrities jumping on the wagon of the #ALSIceBucketChallenge here, I expressed surprise that not one of them thought to create a challenge for Ebola awareness, Cancer, or any cause of their choice. Rather, it was copy copy all the way.

Now some of their colleagues are speaking out. And their complaints range from lack of drinking water in Africa, to reminders of real African diseases that need charity funding.

Yvonne Nelson, Charles Novia and Joselyn Dumas have slammed the lack of introspection that made stars like Genevieve Nnaji, Don Jazzy, Peter PSquare, Davido, and Iyanya, take part in the #icebucketchallenge.

Floyd Mayweather Cannot Read? Radio Station Provides Evidence After 50Cent's Challenge

Posted in: , , ,

Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather may have more money than he knows what to do with, but it seems to be common knowledge that he can't read very well.

First, 50Cent took to Instagram yesterday and challenged Floyd Mayweather, [who has a special woman bathe him every morning here] to a special version of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

50Cent asked Floyd Mayweather to read one full page of a Harry Potter book in exchange for a $750,000 donation to charity, and many who were in on the joke laughed. A lot. The idea of 50 going to such great lengths to troll Mayweather was hilarious.

But now, Rado Station, Power 105's "The Breakfast Club" may have just taken the joke a bit too far, by providing some evidence of Floyd's struggles to read. He won't be a happy man I can tell you.

3 Days Old Baby Stuns Mother And Doctors By Holding And Feeding Herself From A Bottle!

Posted in: , ,

Onyi Chiedozie, a Nigerian based in the UK has shared how her daughter Amara, learnt to feed herself at just 3 days old. Still less than three weeks old, the baby now regularly holds her bottle to feed and pushes it aside when she is full.

Baby Amara was born to Onyi Chiedozie, a single mother, on August 3rd at the Queen’s Hospital, Romford, Essex, weighing 6lb 3oz. Onyi says;

“I just think she has a lot of strength, I’m not sure why though as she wasn’t particularly heavy when she was born. When she doesn’t want it she will push it away. She isn’t strong enough to throw it away, but she does push it away, like she does with her dummy. If she is really hungry, she starts shaking, then she will just grab the bottle as you give it to her.”

Man Proposes to Girlfriend With 1001 Hot Dogs For Each Day They Have Been Together

Posted in: , , ,

A 28-year-old man named Wang proposed last weekend to his girlfriend Chen. Wang's proposal made the news because he used hot dogs. Wang popped the question with the help of a hot dog eatery who supplied all those hot dogs.

Wang first met Chen in Thailand three years ago. The two both loved hot dogs and met each other inside a bakery that sold hot dogs. After talking to Chen, Wang learned that was also from China, and the two would eventually become a couple after they got back home.

So, why the 1,001 hot dogs? Well it turns out that the 1,001 hot dogs represent the 1,001 days that the two have known each other! The used all the hot dog sandwiches to spell out LOVE and then frame it.

Isn't that romantic? Chen seemed to think so. She said "yes" to her future husband, and they sealed it with, you guessed it, a hot dog :)
