BLOGFEST: Design Your Book Cover

Posted in:
This is from Teralyn Rose Pilgrim of A Writer's Journey, she wants us to stretch our cover design skills, lol. I have to admit that I had professionals design the covers of both my books, A Heart to Mend and A Love Rekindled. I'm terrible with GIMP, Paint, Adobe and all those other arty softwares though I have the free versions on my laptop. Anyway, I did the one below on paint for my current WIP.

I know, I know, it's terrible. Bear with me. :) And this is just the tentative title.

A Fiery Love: Thirty year old Dunni returns to Nigeria on vacation and is seduced by local lothario, Babs. Can the chemistry between them translate to lasting love?

PS, the writing is going slow but it's going. I should post an excerpt next week. Cheers!

  11. Hi,

She has a look of scepticism about her, like she can't believe it's going to be more than a fleeting romance! ;)

  18. Stopping by on my way round the entries. I think it's a great cover, lovely model and I like the subtle and uncluttered background.

  19. Myne. great points for efforts.9/10..but errrm i feel the name and face cover don't mesh :(.

For me, when I see a portrait on the cover then i expect that the story/title focuses on that person like a bibliography or something (e.g. Jagua Nana's daughter), but if its romance bring on the couple.even if he is a shadow in the background. Furthermore she doesn't look fiery. smouldering maybe. something about a twinkle missing in her eyes.

    okay I'm out!

  21. I am really uneducated with graphic design programs as well, so I did my cover in Paint too. No shame. :) And your book cover isn't bad at all! I love the blurb you included.

  24. Sciatica occurs
when the herniated disc presses against the nerves
which go to make up the sciatic nerve. While the discomfort begins slowly in most
cases, it can get worse whilst sitting or standing, or when exerting lung pressure while coughing or sneezing.
On average, symptoms will only happen on one side of the body.
