How Much Do You Tell Before Marriage?

Posted in: , , ,
Before and after plastic surgery

Who remembers this picture of a Chinese woman who supposedly was sued by her husband for deceiveing him into marrying a post-cosmetic surgery beauty, without letting him know she was not so good looking in the real sense. How did he find out? They had a not so pretty baby that looked like none of them. The story goes on to say he got several millions in damages. True or false, it made me think of what we keep to ourselves when about to get married, and what to share. Some things that come to mind include;

1. Sexual History - Some will ask, what's your number? As girls I hear it should never be more than 1, OK maybe 3. Say you're a secondary virgin, old things have passed away and refuse to give a number, it's a lady's prerogative not to kiss and tell. If push comes to shove, claim virgin and use alum.

2. Previous Cosmetic Surgery - Like the lady in the picture, if you have changed drastically in mostly irreversible ways, it would be nice to let the other person know. This also includes massive weight loss, breast and butt implants, etc.

3. Medical History including STIs, Genotype, Chronic or Genetic diseases. This is more serious, and even more important. If you guys end up together, your life and that of your children could depend on whether you have shared such crucial information.

4. Real Bra size or even real hair line and condition - Some of us use padded bras, weaves and extensions, body magic, and so on. And BTW, someone asked me the other day what I thought about balding older men using toupees to woo younger women, so this is not only women after here. Yes, and some men also have man boobs and will equally use spanx until...

5. Financial standing and credit history - The latter is more important in countries like the US and UK where most transactions are carried out via credit cards and your abilty to access more depends on how good you've been at paying back what you already used. Other debt like mortgage, student aid, etc also fall under this category

I'm sure I've missed out some very important stuff. Add them in the comments if you can remember.

  2. your real age as well,i no the story of a man who got to know the real age of his wife when she died,be hold she was five years older,he hated his children for that lie his late wife and mother of his children told him for as long as they lived together before she died.so i think letting your real age known to your spouse counts too,especial ladies,or don't you agree with me?

  3. ahem! i am partial to the first one o. i thot about it long and hard b4 i decided that fair is if virgin marry virgin. ur average lady is not trying to beat ur average guy's record and hopefully not sleeping around so d no is usu not dat comparable but hey! putting a number to it is a bit ridiculous in my opinion and my question is, if ur average guy has his escapades up to say 12 women, then some oda average guys might have escapades with his intended-wat is good for the geese. in other words, sexual history is history but if he needles me for info he better have his heart screwed on right to hear the full on gist.

  4. Those are important things to disclose. But sometimes people have a don't ask, don't tell policy. That's why it's important to ask lots and lots of questions. But then again, there is no guarantee that the person will be honest.

  6. Nice list. Those who have been criminals in the past have to disclose that too, or they have something fishy in their background.

  10. You should talk about whether you plan to get a job outside the house. Some husbands can be shocked to find out their wife does not intend to work and wives can be shocked to find out their husband wants them to be stay at home wives.
