Retraction - Funke Akindele Says Her Marriage is Intact

Posted in: , ,

Funke Akindele broke her silence on the news about her separation from husband, Kehinde Oloyede, she sent a text message to a major newspaper yesterday that reads as follows; “I read in the newspaper yesterday that I am divorced. What proof do you have? And I am taking this to court because my marriage is intact. You guys are rumour mongers. Funke Akindele Oloyede.”

According to The Nation newspaper who received the message, Funke Akindele's elder sister, Mrs Ayo-Ola Muhammed, who also doubles as her spokesperson, said that before now, the actress asked that no statement be made on the issue. Mrs Muhammed also stated that it was false that she had confirmed the separation to Linda Ikeji whom I had quoted in my previous post.

I apologize to Funke Akindele for any offence, and I only wish her marriage all the best.

    2. I will like to echo mimi - the direction of this blog is leaving me with a funny feeling. I am unfortunately loosing the feel of the modern African relationship blog that i stumbled upon!

    3. At Enyamy and Mimi, I announced a widening of the niche of this blog when I changed the name last year, and then the URL some months ago. If you look at the navbar, there is a selection of topics covered, you can then select your favorites. Modern and positive relationships are still our focus. Thanks.

    4. Myne's new direction for this blog and the Funke Akindele matter are two different things. There is nothing wrong with reporting a previously reported story so far you acknowledge your source. She didn't need to reach out to Funke's publicist. She referenced Linda Ikeji and that covers all obligations.

  2. @mimi and Enyamy, please don't be quick to judge Myne. I've been following this story as well and trust me I feel Funke is the one who is in denial of her marriage breaking up. look at how this story started, Her hubby posted on FB the breakup and this got Funke fans venting their anger and blaming her in the first place for marrying him. it takes days before her hubby closes down his and says it was hacked(definitely not deceiving me). Funke takes almost a week to debunk these allegations? common Funke, I know you wanna salvage your marriage(nobody wishes for it to end though).
Trust me there is an iota of truth here. One day it will come out.

    1. I am not blaming Myne for anything rather I was pointing out the new direction her blog has been taking for a while. You see a headline on LIB and five minutes later the same headline (with acknowledgement to LIB at least I give Myne that) is on RML almost word for word. When I first started reading this blog it was refreshing and the stories were personal and relatable these days RML is not far off from the other Nigerian gossip blogs around. If that is what she had started out doing no wahala but this blog started out with substance nowadays its seems to be quantity over quality. It's a bit like a food blogger who has authentic recipes that were passed down to her in the beginning suddenly starting to copy and paste Food Network recipes word for word I hope you get my point. Myne no offence biko I just had to speak my mind but at the end of the day it is her blog she can write what she wants.

    2. Mimi, this site cannot be for me, if I didn't have readers like you and everyone else, I would have stopped writing long ago. The days of my personal writing only are past. Now, as the editor of this site, I try to keep a balance between quantity and quality as I bring on other writers and post on a wider range of topics. I appreciate your feedback.
