At 115 years of age, Emma Morano is not just the oldest person in Europe, she is also the fifth oldest living person in the world. Emma has an advice for ladies who want to live long like her, she says they should avoid men. Emma herself had been married once, in 1938, but it ended after the death of her young son.

After that she had “plenty of suitors but she refused to settle down for a second time, "I didn’t want to be dominated by anyone, I just avoid them”.

The oldest living woman in Scotland -- 109 -- says the secret to her longevity is this: Eat your porridge and avoid men. Centenarian Jessie Gallan, who never married, was born in a tiny two-room farm cottage where she slept "top-to-tail" with her five sisters and a brother on a straw mattress, reported The Daily Mail.

Gallan told the newspaper that her "secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They're just more trouble than they're worth." She noted that she also "made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning and have never gotten married."

Actor Steven Bauer is 57 and dating 18-year-old Lyda Loudon, and for many, their May-December romance looks too much like robbing the cradle considering, she's barely legal.

Lyda is said to have first had a falling out with her parents, though they've now reconciled, because they disapproved of their daughter seeing a man old enough to be her grandfather.

Her mother, author Gina Gentry Loudon, wrote a blog about the couple, saying:

"My daughter’s choice has challenged me. In perspective, this was a choice regarding love. She did not choose to break the law, harm an innocent or betray our country. Several friends asked us to consider whether love really is a choice. Others beseeched us to embrace that she found a special love with a special, gentle man. These were defining questions."

Marriage and the Age Question - Chris Brown and Rihanna

Chris Brown brought up the age and marriage question [see post - Ideal age to get married] when answering questions about his relationship with Rihanna. He said to 2dayFm,

“The way I look at it is… I’m always going to love that person, but people have differences, and people have different wants and needs.”
“At the end of the day she’s a young girl. I can’t really be focused on wife-ing somebody that young… and I’m young too.”
“I just got to step forward and be a man and be the best Chris Brown I can be instead of worrying about whoever else is going to be in my side pocket.”

Chris Brown is 24 and Rihanna is 25. I am of the opinion that he has a point, but after seeing Rihanna during her interview with Oprah, I think she's much more mature than most women her age, and it does seem she's ready to get married. Chris, maybe not so much.
