Mo'Nique Speaks on Lee Daniels Telling Her She Was ''Blackballed'' After Oscar Win
Mo'nique was better known for her comedic roles on TV and movies until she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress after her role as an abusive mother in Precious. However, despite Oscar winners being usually offered “more respect, choices, money,” Mo’Nique says it did not work out that way for her.
The actress says she was instead "blackballed", as has been confirmed by director Lee Daniels, who also offered her roles in his movie the Butler, and Empire which did not work out. Monique opened up on the follow-up to her Oscar win in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. Read some excerpts below...
