#NigeriaDecides - Winners & Losers React to 2015 Nigerian Governorship Election Results

29 states participated in the governoship elections yesterday and so far about 10 states have their official results announced. In Oyo Ajimobi has made history as the very first governor to be voted in for a second term due to the popular saying that Oyo people do not serve one person twice, but Ajimobi broke the jinx pulling in 327,310 to emerge victorious. For Ogun, APC's Ibikunle Amosun who also returned elected. While not official yet, there are reports APC's Ambode won in Lagos State and PDP's Nuhu Ribadu lost in Adamawa State. Taraba Gets First Elected Female Governor In Nigeria!

Taraba state in northern Nigeria may have just elected the first elected female governor in Nigeria in the person of Senator Jumai Aisha Alhassan of APC! Although the votes have not been officially announced by INEC, she is leading the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Darius Ishaku, in Taraba state by a wide margin.

When announced, Alhassan will be the first elected female governor in the history of Nigeria. Though she is by no means the first female governor in Nigeria’s democratic history, she is set to be the first elected female governor ever recorded.

Buhari Receives Certificate of Return From INEC + Full Text of Acceptance Speech

Last night, Rtd General Muhammadu Buhari was formally declared winner of the 2015 presidential elections by Prof Jega, the INEC chairman. This afternoon, the president to be received his certificate of return from INEC and gave an acceptance speech thus;

I am immensely grateful to God for this day and for this hour. I feel truly honoured and humbled that the Nigerian people have so clearly chosen me to lead them. The official announcement from INEC was the moment the vast majority of Nigerians had hoped and been waiting for. Today, history has been made, and change has finally come. Your votes have changed our national destiny for the good of all Nigerians.

INEC has announced that I, Muhammadu Buhari, shall be your next president. My team and I shall faithfully serve you. There shall no longer be a ruling party again: APC will be your governing party. We shall faithfully serve you. We shall never rule over the people as if they were subservient to government.

President Goodluck Jonathan has released a statement congratulating all Nigerians who took part, as APC’s Muhammadu Buhari was declared the winner of the 2015 presidential elections. In a statement released late Tuesday evening, Jonathan said he promised Nigerians a free and fair elections and he has kept his word. Fani Kayode Blocks Twitter Accounts Amid Rumors He Was Planted To Destroy PDP's Campaign

The campaign manager of the People's Democratic Party, Chief Femi Fani Kayode has blocked several people's Twitter accounts from viewing his profile on that social networking site, amid rumors that he was planted in PDP to destroy their campaign. The suggestion was put forward by user @GMB4Change;

Congratulations to Gen Buhari As INEC Releases Final Election Results!

Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential candidate, has just become the official winner of the just concluded 2015 presidential elections. With the announcement of the final results from Borno State, Buhari officially emerged as president-elect of Nigeria. It took days and hours for INEC to get all the results as the electoral officials travelled into Abuja by air and road after the collating results at the local government levels.

Incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan, has already conceded defeat in a phone call to his opponent hours ago, a gesture that has been hailed as historic and which has cemented him as a champion of democracy. There is no doubt that with a smooth transition in May, GEJ's role as a elder statesman would've been solidified. Congratulations to both GMB and GEJ, they have played well.

Peace Committee Visits & Congratulates President Jonathan For Accepting Buhari's Victory

The Peace Accord Committee, headed by former Head of State, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar, has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat and congratulating the APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. According to PremiumTimes, the chairman of the committee and former Head of State, Abdusalami Abubakar, said the committee was spellbound when Mr. Buhari informed them that Mr. Jonathan had called to congratulate him.

He spoke with State House correspondents shortly after leading members of the National Peace Committee for the 2015 general elections to a closed-door meeting with Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Read his speech below...

The president elect Rtd General Muhammadu Buhari is said to have accepted the mandate of the people! After he received a congratulatory phone call from the incumbent president, the APC candidate took to his official Facebook page to thank Nigerians as seen above.

Putting his time as military head of state behind him, Buhari has made history in Nigeria as being the first candidate of an opposition party to defeat an incumbent president, and is also winning his first election as a democratic candidate after he has contested unsuccessfully in 2003, 2007, and 2011.

#SaiBuhari is currently trending online as is #BuhariWins. though INEC is yet to announce the final results and the winner of the elections. In the APC camp in Abuja, the mood is also a celebratory one as the party stalwarts have gathered in very high spirits as they await the conclusion of the matter. With just one more state to go – that is Borno - APC candidate Rtd General Muhammadu Buhari is in the lead with a margin of almost 2Million. Since initial reports say Borno massively voted APC, it is safe to say that all roads lead to a new president come May 29, less than 2 months from today!

As news filtered out that the incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan has called Buhari already to congratulate him, other PDP supporters have also toed the same line. Governor Fayose urged Nigerians to respect the outcome of the elections. According to recent tweets by a current minister in the present administration, President Goodluck Jonathan has reportedly conceded defeat and has congratulated Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress on his victory in the presidential elections.

Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka also added that he will address the nation with his concession speech after meeting with other PDP stalwarts. If this information is correct, GEJ is an example of a politician that truly understands the meaning of democracy! I look forward to his concession speech and a smooth transition.

Watch Live - 2015 Election Results Currently Being Collated #NigeriaDecides

The Chairman of INEC, Attahiru Jega, is presiding over the process of collating the results of the 2015 elections conducted this past weekend. The INEC chairman and other officials started the LIVE collations by 3PM Nigerian time and will resume 8PM Nigerian time. So far, 8 states and Abuuja results have been announced. APC took Kogi, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo, while PDP took Ekiti, Enugu, FCT, Nasarawa. However, Jega has asked all to note that it could take up to 24 hours for the final results for all states to be revealed. I'm watching the result announcements on youtube via Channels TV.
