Breaking Records - Redbull Stratos and Felix Baumgartner

Posted in: , , , , ,

I'll be lying if I say I'm not excited about the forthcoming jump from the edge of space being sponsored by Red Bull. It is still in my bucket list to go skydiving at least once, but this is extreme! It's been all over the news here and each time I'm like, wow, just wow.

Our Road to In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Posted in: , ,

Atala and I started TTC (trying to conceive) around October 2009. By April the following year, we notched it up and I started checking my temperature to monitor ovulation. We had then been married just over a year and moved into the new house we bought. The new place had more room, and I considered the spare room will turn to the baby's in due course. In the meantime, we called it the arctic room as we joked and cuddled under the duvet in the warm embrace of each other.

How to Reject a Nigerian Man - Search #1

Posted in: ,

Around the close of day or so, I check my blog's statistics to see that the site did OK. Recently, I've noticed that the blog has been ranking #1 for a few keywords not related to my blog name. Most of the time, it is for a topic we have discussed on here, like Nigerian romantic names for husbands, but once in a while a new one comes along. I have decided to bring you guys some of the more interesting ones.

How Old is Too Young to Get Married?

Posted in: , , , , ,

Often, we focus on the upper age limits of getting married but what about the lower limits? Some months ago, it was reported that 19 years old Miley Cyrus had become engaged to Liam Hemsworth, her off-and-on boyfriend of three years. Some of the chatter over the engagement was over her age. Her fiance is not that much older, he's 22. A lot of commentators felt they were just too young, and Miley being a teenager was the key to their argument.

How to Ensure Other Women Know Your Man is Married

Malaysia and Jannero Pargo

I read about this wedding ring that imprints married on a man's finger yesterday and I wanted to know who came up with the idea. It turns out that it was Basketball Wives LA star, Malaysia Pargo who created it. For her, it was a new way to ensure that one's husband is on lock-down - the argument being that when other women see the married brand, they will keep away from him. If you ask me, any woman that even thinks about this ring as a solution to their husband's philandering should know the battle is lost already.

A Different Path to Parenting

Posted in: , , , , ,

I was thinking I'd return to regular blogging immediately but with the outpouring of support on the last post, I want to thank you all for your comments. I might not be able to answer you individually but hopefully as time goes on, I will explore my thoughts on some of the questions and comments. One thing I can assure you is this: it's certainly not the end. Owning the infertile label does not mean loss of hope or lack of faith, it simply means acceptance so I can fully embrace options open to me in this place and time, and to an honest and loving life with my partner for life.

Coming out of the Closet of Infertility

Posted in: , , ,

"...one in four ever-married women of reproductive age in most developing countries are infertile because of primary or secondary infertility." WHO estimate
I know some of you will be shocked or surprised. Some may have guessed or were wondering. Well, wonder no more. I am coming out. I have medical problems getting pregnant, and I need assisted reproductive therapy to conceive. In fact, I may never get pregnant and may never bear biological children. In one way or the other, infertility has been part of who I am for the past two years and may always be. I own it. I am an infertile.

I decided to come out and also blog about my infertility experience because of the following;
