Woman Offers $10,000 To Any Friend That Helps Find Her a Husband

Posted in: , ,

It sounds like a joke, but it's real. After reading Lean in by Sheryl Sandberg, a book for women to take charge of their work lives, this lady in San Francisco decided to also take charge of her marriage prospects. She is offering a reward of $10000 to any of her friends who introduces her to her future husband - the money would be paid on their wedding day.

I would have said, pay $1000 annually for the first 10 years, because what if a so-called friend colludes with a fake husband to fleece her of her money, and she's hit with an annulment after the money is paid? Read her letter below, and would you ever offer a reward or openly ask friends and family to help you find your wife or husband?

10 Must-See African Movies of the Past 10 Years

Posted in: , ,

This list was put together by Peace Anyiam-Osigwe for CNN. Peace Anyiam-Osigwe is the CEO and founder of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), and a TED Fellow, and she was asked to pick her favorite African movies of the 21st century. I think the remit was too wide, being both African, and the 21st century. Most of the movies she lists are actually from the last ten years, and I totally agree with her about Sinking Sands. White Waters is an OK movie too.

Dear Myne - My Igbo Boyfriend Doesn't Like My Polygamous Family

Posted in: , ,

I am very happy to have come across your post about someone being happily married to an Igbo man as I am on the same path. I am Yoruba and him and I have made up our minds to get married but now he feels afraid that his people will not accept me because of my mother's polygamist life style. Really I am very saddened by this. I just need attention and advice on this. Truly, I hope to get help on this.

In my opinion, these personality traits are something every guy should possess if they want to be perfect boyfriend material and become the one you want to be with for the long haul!

I've Got a New Hobby - Riding a Bicycle

Posted in: , , ,

Before I met Atala, I didn't know many people who loved riding and took it as a hobby. Moving to UK as a student and interacting with other students had of course opened my eyes to bikes as a viable option for commuting. But in Nigeria before then, the closest I had come to biking was half-following the Tour de france and admiring Lance Armstrong in his jersey.
