At first I thought, what a hoax, but I'm somehow addicted to personality tests, IQ tests and all that, so off I went. The site is Typealyser.com, and all you need is enter your blog URL and viola! It tells you who you are.I tried my two websites, this blog, and my author page, MyneWhitman.com. It was interesting indeed to find that I showed different parts of my personality on both sites.
For the author page, I am The Mechanic, and on the blog, I am The Socializer
I actually think some of these personality tests try to hard to box people into narrow definitions. I have come to realize as a few others have too, that most of us fall into the middle cracks of these tests and have a combination of different personalities. For me, mine can change on an hourly basis even. In the long run though, and more generally, I think I'm closer to the ISTP of my author page, and I've heard that it shows up in my books. But I can be social when I want to be, and that is why I think I've managed this blog and my branding of my books quite well.What do you think of personality tests? - The gentle and compassionate type....attuned to my inner values and what other people need.... not friends of many words...prone to worries...tend to follow the path of least resistance and apparently I have to look out not to be taken advantage of.
Agree that I am 'artistic' becos I paint, draw, sew and am really into interior decoration. I also have great empathy for people and I can be a worrywart.
Indeed I can say I go all out to help others.
However, as I have grown older, I have become more discerning about who I help or give my time - because of bad experiences with 'users'

wow! this is very interesting. I think the 'mechanic' suits you more. mine says "duty fulfillers" The responsible and hardworking type. They are especially attuned to the details of life and are careful about getting the facts right. Conservative by nature they are often reluctant to take any risks whatsoever.

This is absolutely true! I am particular about getting facts right..conservative, yes...but I do take risks sometimes...lol...

I've actually taken a Myers-Briggs personality test recently (which that blog personality test is based off of) for one of my classes and I got almost the complete opposite. I was a ISTJ and based on my blog i am an ESFJ.

This is psychic! Especially the first n last parts. I majored in the Sciences but I find that I enjoy the arts more....my present job bends towards art n I am actually considering shifting career-wise. Plus, oh yes, I do enjoy working alone....n also to walk my talk. This is really interesting.

Wow this is interesting, I am the Socializer and it says alot about me especially the down to earth person, valuing family and friends the most and also keeping things neat and tidy. I'm a neat freak!

Mine called me a perfomer and thats how I figured it was bull. They said I avoid confrontation? On the contrary I publish controversial subjects wellu wellu and many comments disagree with them openly.

That analyzer was fast! Hmmm...I suppose it said a few truths but only one side of me is revealed as the artist. I can be just as ambitious as the next person with the singlemindedness required when necessary. But sometimes I do take time out to refocus on what's important outside of a career.

Woow its an awesome personality test though I dont actually believe in personality tests. But it was worth a try coz I found out that I am of the type "the Idealist"which luckly applies to who I am. and well yeap i think the socializer fits you well.

Pretty much true about me... I so love arts; music, drawings even though am a computer scientist. Especially as regards "tend to take the worries of the world on their shoulders". That is really so true. My sisters always accuse me of acting like am 30; calling everybody, ensuring everybody is ok. When they are down, I am down etc. I also like my personal space; a very quiet place and am more of a behind the scenes person... I don't want to be seen.
True, true, true... Except that I have passed the stage of people taking advantage of me... Maybe 4 years ago.. but not any longer.
l tend not to follow personality test knowing it is all made up, so am not going to agree with this 100%, some of it is all in your mind.lol don't believe the hype, you are you and I love it that way.

ReplyDeleteWell Myne I did this twice with the same blog on two separate days. I wanted to see if there'd be a difference. Yesterday I was a machanic with a relatively good balance between the four segments but the smallest being the feelings section (which I agreed with - I always put my mouth in it). Today THERE ARE ALMOST NO FEELINGS. I am a scientist consistently with no social skills. LOL, thank you for posting this because at least now I have an idea of why I keep rubbing ppl the wrong way and why I'm convinced I am my best companion. It's true, if I have to socialise it has to be planned yonks in advance and even then I can change my mind in the last moment. It kills my husband the socialite, and I just can't help myself, I hate having ppl in my space or having to act jolly. I am very industrious work well on my own which is part of why I left corporate. really interesting...hahaha
