D is for Dream Cast

Posted in:
The "Dream Cast" are the people, usually well known, that writers visualize, either as they write or when their book is finished. For me, they're more like the people I could see acting the roles in the book if it ever makes it to the screen. The original idea for a book trailer was to use a variety of actors, and then I came across a picture from the photoshoot done by E4PR, a management company, and it was fixed. They were happy to let me use their pictures, and you'll be seeing more in the course of this month, as I introduce the cast, and my characters individually.

  11. I'm probably one of the few writers who doesn't visualize actors in the roles of her characters. If my novels became tv shows or movies, I'd probably just be excited ANYONE would be involved!

  12. Great trailer! I love casting my books as I create them...I always think, "Who do I see who looks like this character?" and try to find a picture so I have something concrete to visualize. It's a lot of fun!

  14. visualization gives more life or should I say form to characters....when you read a book, you have an imagination of the characters in your head..then when you see it in pictures, it kinda makes it more real...good stuff Myne :)

  16. Oh, how great to have such a solid match for your characters. I think only about 20% of my characters ever find a good match, but that may be because I prefer to leave them just a little hazy so people's imaginations can fill in how THEY picture them.

  19. Second Naijalines - I also hope it makes it to Nollywood.

However, if and when it does, please make sure you retain some creative control over the movie script/acting before they throw in - fake accents,
    - cackling witches,
    - a native doctor story line
    - a lame ending....
    - the ubiquitous 'To God be the Glory' at the end
    - and a promise of 'Part 2 coming soon' LOL...
    Seriously, guard your story line...
