Ebele is the only Nigerian contestant applying for a grant called Canada's Rising Stars, a program aimed at rewarding the creativity and skills of promising Canadian innovators' efforts in solving chronic health crisis in 3rd world countries.in which she is . The grant, if she wins, will financially support her to raise awareness of chronic diseases and advocate for health conscious policies in Nigeria and the rest of Sub-saharan Africa.
To do this, she needs as many people as possible to create an account on the website and give her video a thumbsup. The more thumbsups she gets, the more likely she is to be considered for this grant. I hope you can all help her by going to the site, registering, and voting for her.
You can also share this on your social media, facebook, twitter, etc and ask others to vote and pass it around as well. Ebele Mogo wouldn't like to miss this opportunity to have the funds and support that would enable her to help tackle such diseases as diabetes, heart attack and hypertension in Nigeria.

My only advice to her is perhaps she could have been more specific in what she's seeking to do. Maybe she's done so already or know it in herself but it didn't come across explicitly in the video presentation. Overall, a great initiative.

DeleteThank you for your gracious advice, I will keep this in mind in the future. Given that I just had 2 minutes I wanted to draw the most attention to the gravity of the issue. I had already focused very in-depth on the technical details- the method of implementation and all in the application I had sent to the judges. So the video was more to summarize the idea and especially why it is important. Still, thank you very much for your advice.
This what what we plan to do though- we plan to place a big emphasis on health promotion, policy advocacy (for sustainability) and context specific research. I plan to do this through surveillance and monitoring in collaboration with the WHO regional office in Africa to establish an evidence base for policy advocacy and also to plan context specific strategies. We are aiming for a social movement rather than a top down approach by working with all sectors of society- from community leaders to youth to students and especially the media in raising awareness about non-communicable diseases, risk factors and preventive measures and most especially policy advocacy to ensure successes are sustainable.

Health promotion and awareness raising because we are aiming for a social movement rather than a top down approach by working with all sectors of society- from community leaders to youth to students and especially the media in raising awareness about this epidemic, risk factors and preventive measures. Lastly policy advocacy to ensure the political will that sees to sustainable results.
