Have you already seen the show, what do you think? Is it realistic of how some young people live and engage in relationships?

Shuga - Love, Sex and Money : Season 1 & 2
Shuga is a webseries, an edutainment show that follows the lives of young people in Kenya. If you've not seen these series, bookmark this page. I collected both season 1 and 2 here and I promise, it will be a worthwhile investment of your time if you can see both. I watched them on Sting's blog and Bellanaija, and finished off on the Shuga website. The series production and the message it discusses are both great. AIDS is real, people. Be careful and be safe...

Hmmm looks interesting.. I hope it'll be quite like Wetin Dey (also an AiDS awareness programme produced by Sebari Diete-Spiff)?
ReplyDeleteThank you for this weekend movie/series/programme suggestion :) :)
happy weekend!
I've heard a lot about Shuga, Havent gotten round to seeing it though
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that it was also a web-series. I watched it Sky TV. It is now on different channels on Sky TV. I first watched it on HITV (Sky Channel 204) and thought it was a film. I will watch the new series on the Africa Channel (SKY 268). Shuga is also on MTV, BET TV} Sky TV, and KTN TV in Kenya.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for those that cannot watch it in most countries. Well, they can watch it on your blog. The first episode was really interesting with some sexy kissing, dating and crying. Wow! Is the girl with bald head a model?
i was gonna mention that too, it was made for TV they uploaded the series on the web to reach a wider scope especially outside Africa who couldn't watch on TV. The gal with the bald head is Lupita Nyong'o a film producer currently at Yale for her masters. She is also the daughter of Kenya's Minister for Medical Services Prof.Anyang' Nyong'o, She wrote and produced a film on people living with albinism in kenya http://www.inmygenes.co.ke/home/index.php?/design.html
DeleteI watched the series a few days ago and I absolutely love it! It def tells the story of how young people live their lives and it's a great social marketing tool to encourage and empower teens/young adults to make wiser choices when it comes to sex.
ReplyDeleteI also love how Nigerian music and characters were included!!! LOVE IT!!!
