I ask because most people usually have a personal name they call their partners, those sweet, romantic names like boo, baby, sweetie, honeypie, sugar, daddy, mummy, etc. These endearments are used most often in private, and sometimes there are those deeper ones one uses only during tender, intimate moments, like ahem, ahem :)
But what if one gets so used to using those names that it comes out in public? I have found myself in that situation a few times,but it was OK because it was just one or two close friends around. In a real crowd, I'm usually more self aware when it comes to calling Atala's name.
Some ladies it seems, deliberately use the pet names for their partners. And I don't mean boo, sweetie or honey, I heard a lady repeatedly calling the guy she was with a name I can't even write here. It was sweet but it was also a bit uncomfortable, lol.
What about you guys? Will you call your boo names like H*t R*d when others are around?
IDK...I'm not sensitive about that kinda stuff so i can't really think of a pet name that i'd be uncomfortable being called in front of people.

DeleteI don't know about H*t R*d but I call Mr Lashes babe in private, it sometimes it slips out in public but its not a bad name so I don't really mind other people hearing it!

DeleteNa, his pet name is strictly for our private consumption... but not because it's bad like H*t R*d, but it's meant for his ears only. I definately draw a clear public-private line with our relationship based on past lessons learnt.

DeleteReally, someone called her man H** R** in public? I instinctively say 'Hey love, what's up?' when I pick my mgm's calls but I generally call him by his name when we are out but always refer to him as my mighty good man - mgm - in writing.

Deletei call him babe both in public and in private...he does the same but uses boo sometimes...when i use his name other than to introduce him to someone then he knows he is in trouble lol we are both fans of corny lines like, my sweet potatoe, my jollof rice, my sugar banana etc and use those a lot in text messages, chats and even emails sometimes

Deletei always call my husband by a nickname i made up twenty years ago in college. he calls me by a rhyming one...unless we're fighting. then he calls me by my given name...and it is horrible.

I will usually raise an eyebrow at other people who call me any thing but my name. Found it strangely easy to slip into lovey-dovey names after :)

I call my babe different names... I call her Babe in public, even on facebook. Never felt awkward about it. Do we have private names? Well, She calls me a particular name in private sometimes though. lol | my babe is sweet like that.

ReplyDeleteLol @h*t r*d. My hubby calls me baby a lot in public and private. I call him his full name more than anything else. Sometimes, I use pet names but to be honest, I'm probably just teasing. I'm about the only one who says his name out in full. I love that.
