When it comes to shoes, high heels are my weakness. For someone who shops as little as she can get away with, I find my shoe collection embarrassing sometimes, and quite a number of them are high heel shoes, and I mean HIGH HEEL. As in six inches or more.
The best part about high heels for me is how elegant and sexy they make you feel. Your walk changes, and your humdrum figure stick out in all the right places. High heel stilettos will even completely transform any casual clothes one may be wearing.
Even a jeans and T-shirt will look all tushed up when you jazz it up with a pair of stilettos or good pumps. Your feet may be killing you and your toes could developing a million and one corns and bunions, but the compliments will keep you smiling wide.
The funny thing is, apart from these heels, the rest of my shoes or either completely flat or a sensible two inches or less. But these ones just do something to me when I see them lined up on the selves, I feel I have to get them and before I know it, I'm paying for them at check out.
I think this is the highest one. The stilettos I make sure I only wear for pop in and pop out events, like church or a non-dancing party but this is kind of inbetween and that makes me love it even more. For someone as vertically challenged as I am, there's this feeling when you're on seven-inches of platform sandals. You're not scared you're about to fall over, more importantly you're suddenly and automatically the same height as maybe 70% of the people around, and maybe even taller than some people, lol...
The high heel wedges are my attempt to be reasonable and kind to my feet. I wear them when I know I'll be doing a lot of walking as this last one below shows, or I'll be wearing them for a long time.
It is without doubt a fact that high heels are not good for your feet health, but while my vanity will not allow me to stay away completely, at least these wedges will ensure I don't fall on my face or break a leg while wearing them.
What about you? How high can you go and how far? Are you one of those who can walk miles, climb mountains and go jogging and dancing in their six inches? If you are willing to share, take a photo and blog, tweet or facebook your love of high heels, and then come here and add your link below. I'm looking forward to it.
I used to be good in high heels but can never forget a recent fall I had. lol. The embarrassment eh? hmmm...
ReplyDeletePls share.
DeleteSorry o, but...You should really blog about your great fall :)
DeleteHi Havilah and Myne, thank you for this "New post inspiration". Never thought about sharing this. I only told my husband when we got home after the event. Now I am going to do a blog post right away. Off I go singing and smiling.
Delete@Havilah and Myne, thanks for the inspiration. I just shared the story now at; wives townhall connection.
DeleteI love your collection Myne especially the 3rd one
ReplyDeleteThat third one is a KILLER!
DeleteThanks. That third one is actually not too uncomfortable. But you need a paved ground for it. Wore it to an event in Nigeria where I had to walk on bad roads, and I almost fell!
DeleteYou almost fell. hahaha, someone almost fell too.
DeleteI hate high heels :-(
ReplyDeleteMe too, they are so uncomfortable my husband loves them, but they are my feet!
DeleteNot even once in a while? Awww :(
DeleteI wear heels but not high ones, my maximum is 2 inches anything higher is uncomfortable for me and i can't seem to balance it , i am told i have weak ankles. the shoes are lovely Myne, but i can never wear such :(
DeleteI have made a resolution never to buy high heeled shoes anymore no matter how beautiful they are. I hardly wear my 6inch heels and even when i do, i always have slippers in my bag as a back up.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine wore heels for her church wedding, it was a catholic wedding so there were about 11 couples, she said she almost collapsed, all attempts by her husband to make her smile didn't work, her feet were numb and she legs were vibrating. When she couldn't take it anymore, she had to call her cbm and asked her to get flat shoes.
Very high heels are just uncomfortable.
Ohh...so sorry for your friend. No matter how much I wanted to feel taller and elegant for my wedding, I knew to stick to a more comfortable pair of heels. High heels are uncomfortable, no kidding.
DeleteI love heels..........they give a special effect.lol
ReplyDeletelovely collection you have
Thanks, Luciano.
DeleteI am pretty tall so i don't wear really high heels just a reasonable height and not always, just for special occasions and stuff everyday wear for me are flats all day everyday i love my flats.
ReplyDeleteEveryday wear for me are def flats too, or I would be crazy. But sometimes I wish to be taller like you guys :)
DeleteRight, I'm with Pendo on this one... I'm tall so high heels are definitely a seasonal thing for me. If I can get away with wearing flats to a place, then flats it is
DeleteWaow! I love the curry shoe. For me I prefer very high heeled shoes, especially for occasions cos it makes me feel elegant. Can I have the second one?
ReplyDeleteLOL...thanks. That curry one is my latest purchase. The second one is an older goodie.
Deleteno doubt they make one look elegant! somebody say back up slippers plsssss! Nonye ND-O
ReplyDeleteYes o, back up slippers all the way if I'm carrying a tote.
DeleteI call them 'killer heels'. I'm 5ft 7' so I cant have of these kinds of heely shoes on. I enjoy my feet not hurting in my 2' heel shoes and i'm cool in them. For people that want to be what we call'gbemiga, they can toy. Lol.
ReplyDeleteThey are real killer heels for sure. I pray each time I wear these ones that I come back with my legs intact, lol...
DeleteI cannot handle heels at all. I am not tall, but i feel great in kitten heels or flats. My highest heels are these http://www.shoes.com/ProductImages/shoes_iaec1250833.jpg
ReplyDeletebadgely mischkas. I have worn them only twice... they are pretty but HIGH!!
No heels for me Myne!!
LOL...those shoes must be up to 4 inches I think, and they look great too. To be honest, I've not worn any of these shoes more than 5 times each, and some I've owned for years.
DeleteLovely shoes there!
DeleteI love heels.I wear high heels monday to wednesday and then do flats thursdays and fridays for work.
ReplyDeleteThat sort of moderation is important to save one's legs and feet too much stress.
DeleteI love high heels, but I always have some flat in a bag or car lol!
ReplyDeleteGreat to connect with you, I am following you almost every where. Have a super blessed day!
Love

Thanks Ugochi, I'll check out your site too.
DeleteHmm I have a love hate relationship with heels..I have different inches sha but the thing is I am tall *I thought I was 5'8 but discovered I was 5'10* so imagine, I wear the 4-6inch heels when I am wearing a short dress while the others are for pants etc.. Its just weird when you become the tallest in the room..huh?
ReplyDeleteHeels I can do anything in them sha, the only thing is when I wear the ones that makes my small toe hurt, I even buy the shoe protector..Been wearing "apola* since I was in my early teens, so its not a big deal..Plus I always have my flats just incase o
Ahh..you're one of the lucky ones, both in height and being able to wear really high heels. I love them but na sufferhead sometimes :)
DeleteNormally, I'm a wedge and high block heeled person, I hate heels. But I remember on embarrassing incident. my sister in-law got me this high pumps, very fine.. and it matched my friend's wedding colour. I was her chief bride's maid o. I now wore this wicked shoe! Come see wahala that day! My legs kept shaking like jelly fish.. You guys won't believe I wore slippers for my friend's wedding. As her maid of Honor it was so uncool, I'm sure my friend would have slapped me if she could. I hate heels!
ReplyDeletewww.chachacorner.com
lol@ I'm sure my friend would have slapped me if she could. Sounds like something i can do, i so hate to be uncomfortable in shoes and particularly hate when my legs start shaking too... i can wear slippers when i start getting uncomfortable in my shoes no matter how grand the occasion, so i totally feel you
DeleteThe whole shaking legs thing happens to me too when I've been standing on especially stilettos for too long. That's why I prefer the block heels and always have backup. When there are no flats, I will go barefoot than risk falling :)
DeleteGoing for slippers is better than having the great fall I had o.
DeleteI LOVE heels. I have a love affair with them. I wear them everywhere. I have maybe 1 pair of flats for the days I am on the Metro. Other than that, no flats.
ReplyDeleteI tried uploading my picture, it wouldn't let me. Can I delete and try again?:)
Try putting it again. I will delete this one without pictures then. BTW, just saw the FB album, you sure love shoes, and you have an eye for the pretty ones too :)
DeleteThanks Myne :) I put up a new one! I stopped uploading pictures to that album cos Naija people won't let me rest. Shoes are my Achilles heel. God will deliver me!
DeleteLovely collection, Myne.
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest. The only place I'll be found wearing heels that high is in the bedroom;)
Hahaha...you know that comment is just begging a question?
DeleteAdura Ojo,
DeleteI was just wondering what you would be wearing heels for in the bedroom. Is that where your church is? Maybe you have dance parties in there?
Just curious.
:)
Lol
Hmmm...dance parties in the bedroom, NakedSha? I don't know about that o. Perhaps you can enlighten me? But an alleluia chorus is not unknown in the bedroom, yes? :)
DeleteAnd er which question is that, Myne? ;)
Nakedsha asked it, and I believe you've answered. Indeed one can wear heels and sing Alleluia, even have dance parties kpa kpa sef, LOL...
DeleteOh, high heels in the bedroom? I sure understand. *rolling eyes*
DeleteHi mates, pleasant post and pleasant arguments commented here, I am truly enjoying by these.
ReplyDeletemy web site: how to make a app
Lol, #Dead!
ReplyDeleteI love your shoes; especially the third one. Pretty.
ReplyDeleteI don't wear heels. I don't know how to walk in them without feeling weird. Besides, with my job, better have your boots or plimsolls at all times when you are at work.
I looooooove my flats; can't tell you how much.
I always took you for a flat-shoe person o, I guess because of the pics you upload.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any flat shoe in my closet, not even one. I love heels men.
I love heels! I even have a hard time shopping for flats but heels or boots? NEVER!! LOL ... a woman can never have enough shoes!
ReplyDeleteI love heels
ReplyDeletenot as much as i love my feet
so i kind of limit wearing of heels.
I agree with you 100%, especially the thing about being as tall as the people around you. Technically for proper business attire my heels are inappropriate, but if I don't wear at least five inches, seeing over the podium when I have to speak is difficult and distracting . . . plus I always get complements on my heels :).
ReplyDeleteSame with Atilola I always took u as a flat shoe person. Being the smallest in my house, also amongst my in laws I love heels. I stopped wearing when I got pregnant cos people kept on telling me it will cause miscarriage n shift my womb. Only to find ladies in America wearing heels, though the wedges pregnant and all. For the record my doctor said the story about the heels is not true. Lol.
ReplyDeleteWww.secretlilies.blogspot.com
Thank you all.
Delete@Atilola and Ibifiri, most of my everyday shoes are flats or mediums but I have maybe two or three other shoes with heels like these that I rock when I want to feel tall or elegant :)
I love seeing people wear heels but I hardly wear them. I have a few of them but hardly wear them. I just got this lovely black wedge and wore it twice cos I fell down the second time I tried it. It has in public o. Right in front of church thank God most people were already inside at that time. I stood up n calmly wen back to my car and changed to my low slippers jeje. Was not funny when the church security was telling me Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI love my flats. ☺
