Shapewear for Women - In Search of Figure Eight

Posted in: , ,

Is this topic too hush-hush for a blog? LOL...well it has been on my mind and I decided to share. I use shape wear for my slightly superflous tummy and especially when I intend to wear a figure hugging outfit. My body type is an apple, I think and once I add a bit of weight, it goes straight to my abdomen and back.

So in some particular clothes I need help to give a good silhoutte, you know, that much touted figure eight or coke bottle shape. I currently use two generic shape wear outfits and would like to get a discussion going with some of my blog readers on what they use, if they do of course, and their thoughts on shape wear.

  1. Hahahaa Myne, shapewears are cool, but, I hear they leave one so uncomfortable and completely worked up at the end of the day.
I used to have a very very flat Tommy which I'm losing these days.
Urmm, I am thankful for my ability to just hold my Tommy in for as long as I want and still feel comfortable. *wink*

    1. I am not as lucky. I can get away with tucking, but in some clothes, that doesn't work.

  2. Ah...shape wear. They seem like one option to rigorous workouts to shed excess weight. They do come in handy. That's if you can breath beneath them. Never used them sha...I've managed just fine with the 'suck belle' method.

  4. Personally, the ardyss body magic range is one of the best so far, and I use it when I need to, lol. It could be uncomfortable though.

    1. That's what I was afraid of. Maybe I'll consider it for very rare occasions.

  5. Abegiii.... I hate those things. I use them when I absolutely have to... Like maybe 4-5 times per year? Funny thing is that my tummy is not close to flat, but what can I do?

I particularly hate girdles... Or d fancy word u used... Shapewear because it just bulges up the stomach anyway... It like bulges it together n makes it more obvious...

I just avoid body hugging clothes and I go for tops that takes d attention off that area... This new PEPLUM trend is an A++ for me.
And wow @ the number of people that does the 'suck in' things... Anything that makes me uncomfortable is not my friend o.

    Hey Myne :)

    2. Myne!
Suck belle is d answer oh!! As for the girdle, errmmm!! Body Magic, that thing is just too uncomfortable. I remember attending a function with a friend who wore it. I noticed she was uncomfortable. When I asked her if everything was all right, she said she was fine. A few minutes later, I saw my friend sweating and gasping 4 breath. We had to rush to the ladies to get her out of it. I have never used it and that experience did not encourage me. When I know I'm going to wear a fitted dress, I don't eat for a day. I take fluids (oranges or skimmed milk) and suck my tummy in real good. A bit extreme, I know, but hey! beauty is pain.

      Just not body magic pain.

  6. lol DO NOT TRY BODY MAGIC.
    Reasons:
    1) You wouldn't be able to breathe
    2) you'll have pin marks on your body cos you lock with the eye hook pin and its tight believe me, tight as in TIGHT
    3) the full one which is meant to help your back straighten up actually pulls your shoulders down because of how tight it is so after awhile you get marks on your shoulders as well
    4) It is not as "effective" as they claim if you don't take levive and their other products which is bleh in my opinion cos levive is supposed to make your food digest faster and also keep you from getting hungry, na lie o, you'll still be hungry.
    5) If you wear a tight trouser or skirt or kneelength dress, you can tell where the body magic stops on your thigh from the outline of the outfit so everyone knows you're wearing something underneath.

Just get spanx from www.spanx.com. Its more comfortable than body magic by far but then again, its not as tight as body magic so it won't give you a floor board tummy, however it does smoothen out edges, takes the tummy and waist in as much as it can. But atleast you can wear it for hours e.g for those who work, 6am till 12pm sef and not feel anything. Its very comfy and helps you look nicer in dresses.

I only use them when I have an important meeting at work, going for a dinner or when I need to wear a very tight outfit else i'm fine with my body statistics...lol...its on point.

  8. I use the camisole like one that is cut low so as not to squash the twins and then wear tights beneath. Its all good until I sit a few times n then the top rides up n the bottom rolls down. I try to suck it in but nah doesn't work for me sha. I want to try the spanks too. I don't know how peeing will work with body magic or ardyss cos I go almost every hour. If u hear of any thing pls post it or message me I am tres interested.

    1. Ah, I have experienced that riding up of a cami shape wear, the new type I bought has this silicone lining near the bottom edge and it helps.

  9. I just stumbled on this blog. I love love your blog. I use shapewear, if you get the right one, then you would love the results. I believe shapewear should be worn even when there is no bulge. I tried body magic as well, but a bit uncomfortable until I found www.briefessentials.com, great shapewear at good prices too and free delivery in Lagos. I just had a baby, and I am happy with the results after using stuff I got from them.
