Good News For Readers - Reading Rainbow is Back With Over $1Million From Kickstarter

Posted in: , ,

This is encouraging and awesome news for reading enthusiasts like me. Reading Rainbow was a PBS TV series for children that ran from 1983 to 2006, and now their campaign to raise $1 million on crowdfunding website Kickstarter has reached its seven-figure goal within one day.

The funds generated will be used to bring the TV classic fronted by Levar Burton to a new generation of readers by building a web version that families at home can access from anywhere in the world, creating a classroom version for teachers and providing free access to it for American schools in need.

LeVar Burton, the creator and host of Reading Rainbow, launched the Kickstarter projectand the online campaign, fueled by buzz generated on social media, surpassed $1 million shortly before 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday. It is currently at $1.7 Million and still growing. The fundraiser is going on till July 2.
