Bill Cosby Denounces Hecklers As Woman Protests At Comedy Tour

Posted in: ,

Bill Cosby still won’t directly address the allegations of sexual assault against him by over 20 women, and as reported by several reputable media outlets, but he did speak on why he isn’t speaking about them.

He also denounced calls by a certain radio presenter for people in the audience at his already scheduled shows to heckle him for comments during his on-going comedy tour. At the latest stop in Florida, the 77 year old comedian got a standing ovation at the end of his routine in which he did not at all address the allegations. One woman did come out to the event with a placard to protest.

In a backstage interview with Florida Today before the comedy routine, Bill Cosby said:

"So today I was informed of this radio station that is offering money for people to stand up and heckle in order to collect prizes and money.

"The thing is, these people are prodding and pushing people and asking people to have a frat house mentality. Now suppose someone brings a weapon or decided to do more foolishness. There will be announcements made and the stations made some disclaimers, but what if people don't listen to what they said and they entice violence. That's not good for anyone.

"When you go to a civil rights march or something like that, at least there are meetings and some organization to it and people understand how to behave. There may be people coming to the show that don't know exactly what to do; there is no organization to it all."

"I know people are tired of me not saying anything, but a guy doesn't have to answer to innuendos. People should fact check. People shouldn't have to go through that and shouldn't answer to innuendos."

While I agree that no one should be given any awards and prizes to heckle him, I do wish he would of his own accord give a once-and-for-all statement on this issue so it can be begin to be properly put to rest.

So far, several stops on the comedy tour have been cancelled.
