Bobbi Kristina - Family Reportedly Told to Prepare for the Worst, Father Releases Statement

Posted in: , ,

Bobbi Kristina, 21, the only daughter of late singer Whitney Houston, was found unresponsive in a filled bathtub on Saturday Jan 31. She was discovered by her husband who called 911 before she was rushed to the hospital where it was later reported that she was stable and still breathing. Some sites said she was in a medically induced coma because of brain swelling, and may be brain dead.

Now her father, Bobby Brown has spoken out on what happened, though he did not address the specifics of Bobbi Kristina's condition. He said in a statement;

"Privacy is requested in this matter. Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time."

Bobby’s lawyer, Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC, also released a statement, saying,

“The report that Bobbi Kristina Brown has been taken to the hospital in Atlanta, Georgia is accurate. No additional information will be forthcoming.”

A source told Sandrarose Bobbi was brain dead and on a ventilator in intensive care. The source said Bobbi never regained consciousness nor did she breathe on her own, as other media outlets have reported.

"What that means is Bobbi’s body is being kept alive on machines but her brain cells are dying off rapidly due to loss of blood circulation to most of her brain."

According to ET, source close to the family says Bobby Brown, husband Nick Gordon and others have been advised to prepare for the worst and that the longer the 21-year-old remains in the coma, the more likely it will be that she will not regain consciousness.

They are praying for her recovery but have also started to discuss how they would handle funeral arrangements.

A source told Atlanta's Channel 2 reporter Jessica Jaglois that the family will make the decision to take Bobbi Kristina off life support within the next few days if there is no improvement.
