After the Proposal - Many Women Are Disappointed By Their Rings and Locations

Posted in: , , , , ,

Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a fairytale proposal, in the perfect setting with a glittering diamond ring but according to a new survey almost a quarter (23 per cent) of women said that their partner’s proposal did not live up to their expectations.

The survey of 1000 Brits who were engaged within the last 10 years by bespoke ethical jeweller, Ingleandrhode.co.uk , found that of those who were disappointed by their partners engagement, over two thirds (70 per cent)said it was due to the setting of the proposal, whereas only 14 per cent who said they were disappointed due to the ring.

There’s more bad news for guys…

Of those women who don’t like their ring, nearly two thirds (64 per cent)  would never tell their partner and one in five (18 per cent)would have been have been happier selecting their own ring.
The fact that your fiancée hasn’t complained to you about the ring doesn’t guarantee you got it right. More than one in 10 (13 per cent) women gave their partner detailed instructions on the style of the ring and where to purchase it from and one in three (33 per cent) hinted at the style and where to buy the ring from.

More than one in 10 (13 per cent) women who were engaged within the last 10 years contributed financially towards their dream engagement ring.

The survey also revealed that just over one in three (35 per cent) women were consulted by their partners about the style of ring they wanted. Of the women who were consulted, nearly all (97 per cent)  thought it was a good idea that their partner had consulted.

Strangely, of the women who weren’t consulted, most were perfectly happy with this as less than one in five  (18 per cent) wish they had been consulted.
