President Jonathan Moves To Postpone February Elections By 6 Months?

Posted in: , , ,

President Goodluck Jonathan, is actively working on plans to postpone the general elections, earlier scheduled to hold February 14, according to SaharaReporters. This is based on the fact that the National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki, had publicly called for the postponement of the elections on a couple of occassions.

The NSA initially made the call while speaking at a Chattam House lecture in London on Thursday, January 22, saying that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was yet to distribute Permanent Voters Cards (PVC), to all eligible voters. During a BBC World Service radio interview broadcast on Friday, January 23, Dasuki, again repeated his call for the elections to be postponed.

Sammie Okposo Apologizes For Saying Buhari Should Be Flogged Over Certificate Controversy

Posted in: , ,

Yesterday, award winning gospel singer, Sammie Okposo reposted a negative report about Buhari's recently released statement of result on his Instagram page. Okposo slammed the 72 year old APC presidential candidate Gen. Buhari saying he had forged the certificate and needs to be flogged. At first he said those not happy with his remarks "to go and hug transformer".

Someone he respects must have spoken to him, or he slept over it and calmed down. He posted the above statement in apology. See what he wrote yesterday below...

Did Mama Peace Really Speak This Badly At A PDP Rally?

Posted in: , , , ,

The Nigerian First Lady Patience Jonathan is alleged to have made some very bad grammatical mistakes at the PDP campaign rally for Nyesom Wike in Okrika, Rivers state yesterday. Someone on Twitter who said they watchedMama Peace speak at the rally on TV shared some of the bad parts of her speech. But since the user is called GMB, I'm thinking it's just negative politricking from the APC camp. Read below and share your thoughts...

Katsina College Releases Buhari's WASC Results [Photos]

Posted in: , , ,

Let us be clear, this statement of result is NOT the original certificate or statement of result of the WASC that Buhari took in 1961. The secondary school certificate examination results of Gen. Buhari from the Government College, formerly Provincial Secondary School, Katsina, are probably lost or destroyed which is not too surprising after over 50 years.

What you see above is the statement of result as signed by the current principal of Katsina College, and dated January 21, 2015. The principal is able to issue this because Buhari’s took the exams under the aegis of the University of Cambridge West African School Certificate Examinations and their data has been computeristed.

A Cambridge/WAEC photostat, which Premium Times also exclusively obtained, confirms that the APC presidential candidate obtained five credits in English Language, Geography, Hausa Language, History, and Health Science. He failed at both Maths and Wood work. See below...

Buhari Addresses Certificate Controversy - Shifts Focus To Insecurity, Unemployment

Posted in: ,

The APC presidential candidate, Rtd. Gen. Mohammadu Buhari has addressed the controversy surrounding his missing academic certificates at a press conference today, January 21st in Kano. While confirming that he does not own a copy because of the length of time that has passed, he promised to get one from the school if possible. He also said the focus of the election campaigns should be about more pressing issues like insecurity, unemployment, and corruption.

Good Morning, Gentlemen of the Press.

I only consented to address you this morning because of the genuine concern expressed by many supporters and other well-meaning Nigerians that that the issue be addressed. Otherwise, I would have dismissed it for what it is - sheer mischief and would not have considered it an issue worth the Nation's while.

Buhari To Address Missing Certificate Tomorrow

Posted in: , , ,

Rtd. Gen. Mohammadu Buhari has said he will address the controversy surrounding his missing academic certificates at a press conference tomorrow, January 21st by 9am in Kano. The APC presidential candidate made this known through the Director of the APC's Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

INEC, the body in charge of the elections listed Buhari as having a West African School Certificate (WASC), but have said they do not have the physical copy of the certificate. Buhari earlier said the Army would have a copy since he submitted the forms before being signed on to the military. The army however also insists they do not have a copy.

Fani Kayode And Jonathan's Campaign Team Speak On Fayose's Death Advert

Posted in: , , , ,

I noticed this advert by the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose causing a lot of ruckus online yesterday, but is it really different from the dirty campaigns we've seen so far from PDP, even going as far as forging a medical report indicating that Buhari has cancer?

Anyways, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign organisation led by the Director of Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has spoken out to say they did not endorse the advert. Fani Kayode said the views expressed in the publication were personal to Fayose, even as the message was on point as to the PDP's worry with Buhari's age. Read his statement below...

Oby Ezekwesili Slams President Jonathan For Campaign Visit to Maiduguri

Posted in: , , , ,

President Goodluck Jonathan made a surprise call at a military base in Maiduguri yesterday as a way to boost the morale of the soldiers for the Armed Forces Rememberance Day. But not everyone is empressed. On my FB where I shared the news, someone called it "campaingning and not caring."

Former minister of education and Oby Ezekwesili seems to agree, as she expressed her anger and disgust on Twitter. She also reminds the president of the promises he made and failed to the Chibok parents after the #BringBackOurGirls online activism.

Whose side are you on, all I can say is 'at least he finally visited.'

Female Presidential Candidate for 2015, Professor Remi Sonaiya Sure Can Rap!

Posted in: , ,

Prof. Comfort Remi Sonaiya is the only woman contesting for the presidency in the forthcoming Nigerian elections in February 2015. Unfortunately, not many of us have heard of her, her running mate, Saidu Bobboi or her party, Kowa.

I say unfortunately, not because she's a woman like me, but because watching this video of her I found on Youtube, I get her, and she feels so much more capable, approachable and qualified than both Goodluck and GMB. The prof is an intellectual and in 2008, she was named an International Ambassador Scientist of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Sonaiya became the National Public Relations Officer of KOWA Party soon after she resigned as Professor of Foreign Languages at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. In the video, is a speech made at the 2013 TedexIfe where she speaks the language of the youth which included singing and rapping. Check on it!

Redeemed Pastor Prof Yemi Osibajo Being Considered For Buhari's VP Candidate

Posted in: , , ,

The All Progressives Congress (APC) are said to still be considering their options for the vice presidential position alongside General Muhammadu Buhari. Contrary to media reports that Buhari had picked party chairman, Bola Tinubu, as his running mate, he only agreed to allow Tinubu select at least three candidates with the final selection being made by the party.

As of this morning, Buhari's options for running mate had been narrowed down to Governor Oshiomhole and former Lagos State  Attorney General and a Pastor of the Redeemed Church of God (RCCG), Prof. Yemi Osibajo.

Nigerian Elections 2015 - Would Our Votes Really Count?

Posted in: , , ,

By Onyinye Orabuike

I got registered for the INEC voters’ card today, finally. I feel very good because they told us that today is to be the last day of registration at the districts and any one that failed to register there would have to do so at the local government INEC office.

I had an important appointment for today but had to postpone it so that I could leave early. My husband was at the venue as early as six o’clock to put down our names. I couldn’t go that early because I had to drop the children in school. Just as I left the school, my husband called and said I should come to the venue immediately as there was a new development.

Why President Jonathan Should Be Ashamed Of the #BringBackGoodluck2015 Campaign

Posted in: , ,

When I first saw a billboard with the hashtag #BringBackGoodluck2015 on my newsfeeds, I didn't want to believe my eyes, that image looked photoshopped. But with this new picture above, the reality of the campaign cannot be denied.

Whether President Goodluck Jonathan's political campaign machine is behind these posters, or they are from an independent backer, it is appalling that no one in his camp has come out to plainly condemn it.

It is pitiful and depressing that while the over 200 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram are yet to be found and returned to their families, it is all business as usual for the president and his political cronies. Shame on them!

The Washington Post has written a brief oped about president Jonathan's supporters using the #bringback hashtag for his campaign. I hope some people are reading;

Ayo Fayose, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has been officially returned as the winner the gubernatorial elections held in Ekiti State, Nigeria, by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Incumbent Governor, Fayemi conceded defeat saying,

I have just spoken with my brother, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, congratulating him on his victory. In a few hours from now, I would be meeting the Governor-elect to discuss the future of our dear state and how we would work together to institute a smooth transition programme.

The two men have already met at the Ekiti State Government House in Ado-Ekiti to begin the process of transition. Ayo Fayose, the new Governor-Elect, will be inaugurated as Governor on Oct 16 2014. Fayose had previously been the governor of the state between 2003 and 2006. Congrats to him for clinching the seat once again.
