Michelle Howard is First Woman and African American Four-Star Admiral in the US Navy
ADMIRAL MICHELLE HOWARD is the very first woman in the 239 years history of the US Navy to reach the rank of a Four-Star Admiral. And she's an African American.
Admiral Howard has faced critics who say she was promoted for political reasons rather than merit, a notion that both Mabus and Greenert were quick to dismiss in their remarks.
"Michelle has put in a tremendous career," Greenert said. "Thirty-two years of mainstream, at-sea, tough tours. Michelle came up through the amphibious expeditionary warfare arena and came into [Washington] and did the hard jobs that needed to be done. And so she is definitely ready to assume this position, there is no question in my mind."
Scary Tornado Photobombs This Couple's Wedding Photoshoot in Saskatchewan
This will be a most memorable wedding for the photographer, and also for this Canadian couple. A story they will forever tell anyone who sees their wedding photos.
The couple were posing for photos on their wedding day this past Saturday when a tornado suddenly appeared right behind them, far enough that they were safe, yet close enough to provide the perfect photobomb opportunity.
Saskatchewan photographer Colleen Niska was taking the newlyweds’ pictures on a gravel road that she often uses for her shoots when the tornado made its appearance in the dark skies behind them. The photographer commented on Facebook:

Washington Post Collects Nigeria's PR Money Then Satirizes President Jonathan's Op-Ed
Last week, I posted [here] an Op-ed by President Goodluck Jonathan which originally appeared in the Washington Post under the title - Nothing is more important than bringing home Nigeria’s missing girls.
Today, that newspaper proved that the article was a paid-for PR piece when a member of their own editorial team wrote a rebuttal to Jonathan. Karen Attiah slammed the president with a satirized version of his own puff-piece which contained hard-hitting facts of ways in which his administration have missed the mark in dinding the missing girls.
There was also the revelation that the Nigeria government is paying a US PR company $100,000 monthly to launder their image internationally. What a shame!
Alero Falope Confirms She Left Dino Melaye But Says He Did Not Physically Abuse Her
Alero Falope granted an interview yesterday to clear the air on recent events concerning her marriage to Dino Melaye and her conversation with his ex-wife. While she confirmed that she has left her matrimonial home, Alero totally denied that it was due to physical abuse.
Explaining the leaked chats between her and Tokunbo Fabiyi, Dino Melaye's ex-wife, to SDK, Alero said:
Yes, Stella I exchanged SMS with Tokunbo but I only did that because I thought it would remain between us and besides I needed to connect with someone who might understand where I was coming from.
Let me state here now that Dino might be a lot of things but he never beat me and that's
the truth. There were just some things I couldn’t handle and that was what I referred to as living in Tokunbo’s hell for six months.
Blast From The Past - When Lagos To New York Round Trip Flight Was N17,000
I can't claim to have experienced those good old days, but a lot of older Nigerians enjoyed the largese of a rich, young and vibrant Nigeria, when out Naira had value, and our country was respected around the world.
A friend shared this on Nigeria Airways newspaper advert from the early 80s on FB and a commenter added his own reminiscence -
do you think inflation accounts for the high price now, more than 10X what it used to be, or the general decline of the economy is to blame? Is Nigeria Airways still working now BTW?

Them good ol' days. I still remember paying N1,040 as airfare for Nigeria Airways to and fro London from Lagos in 1980 (British Caledonian then was N1, 240). Reminiscence.
