Kenya Makes Law to Legalize Polygamy, Female MPs Walk Out on Voting

Posted in: , ,

I think I've asked before and I'll ask again, why do so many African women get all up in arms about polygamy? From anecdotes, it can be inferred that up to half of adult African men have more than one woman - whether traditionally married, baby mama married, concubined, mistressed, sugar daddied, what have you. Also, most of our cultures accept it, and so if majority of Kenyan MPs are for it, then I think it makes sense for them to harmonize their civil and traditional laws.

How Celebrating Wedding Anniversaries Has Made Our Marriage Stronger

Posted in: , , ,

By Nkem Akinsoto

Atala and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary on Valentine's day back in February. It was a couple of weeks after I returned from my 3months stint in Nigeria, and I remember leaving some threads hanging loose and a few people asking me to extend my stay for a couple more weeks so I could tie them all up neatly before returning to the United States. I told them plainly, not gonna happen. I care a lot about succeeding in my business and will make allowances on how it would affect my time with Atala and thus our relationship, but my wedding anniversary is very important to me.

Blast From the Past - Nepa Says No More Blackout

Posted in: , , , ,

There is NEPA no more, so maybe we shouldn't hold this newspaper headline from back in the eighties against the power company? The deadline for no more black outs was 1986, now almost thirty years later, and an identity change, black outs, and regular prolonged ones at that, are still with us.
