Eko Tourist Beach Resort Lagos - Weekend Pictures

Posted in: , , , ,

While we were in Nigeria in July, we stayed in Lekki with a friend for a few days, and I got to check out that part of Lagos. Our host actually drove us all the way down to the new Lekki-Epe airport and the Free Trade Zone which are both still under construction. On our way back, we stopped over at the Eko Tourist Beach Resort. The resort is located at Akodo, on the Epe Expressway, quite far from even Lekki, about an hours drive. Luckily, the roads are quite good.

I have been to Badagry once before, but the Epe end is an eye-opener about the natural beauty of Lagos, so it was surprising for me that there were so few people there. It was virtually empty while we were there. We went there on a Weekday, so maybe that was part of it. The entrance fee is not much, just N1000 naira though they waived it since we just wanted to take pictures and enjoy a bit of the atlantic ocean which I haven't seen from a Nigerian coast of in ages.

It is indeed a lovely place, there was a stiff breeze off the ocean and the water was beautifully flirty, just begging you to play with it. But you always have to be careful with the Atlantic, it can be very changeable. Anyway, we played at the edges for a while, the children played hide-and seek among the trees and then we had to go. Enjoy some of the pics below.

Hope your weekend is going great? See you soon, Mwah!

  1. Myne, so this was how you enjoyed yourself while you were in 9ja? I think this is really cool, but most people who live in Lagos busy themselves too much to see beautiful relaxion places like this.
Meanwhile, i will appreciate if you can help me with the site of the Architect-turned-writer ( schooled at FGC, Idoani)that you had an interview with. Thanks a million.

    1. LOL...thanks. I think maybe most people go to Bar Beach which may be closer to them. What is the name of the architect you are talking about? I can't place the person now.

  4. Myne: I should have know with your "the water was beautifully flirty, just begging you to play with it" line that you would actually go and play in the water ... LOL! That's what a vacation is about. It looked peaceful too.

  11. Awww so niceee....now I like the fact that you came to Naija and made out time to go sight seeing. How wonderful will it be if Nigerians can always take out time to go beach walking, mountain climbing, bird watching etc. Connecting with nature (especially when in its undiluted state) plays a special invigorating magic on the human mind. Yeah, a lot of Naija's tourism potentials are yet to be developed, and the state of security in the country is not even helping matters, nevertheless, I know that someday Naija's travel and tourism industry will see a glorious light. Next time you're in Lagos, instead of going all the way to that far akodo beach, you can check at Artican Beach- the reigning private Beach in Lekki. It's located in Ajah (http://naijatreks.com/2012/07/nt-aticanbeach/).

Been a while I've been here. Good to read your posts again Myne.
