What do you think on people calling you, or others, out on your weight. Rude, or just being realistic, or maybe even solicitous of your health? On a HuffPost Live interview, Joan Rivers was asked to defend comments she made on Adele's appearance at the Late Show with Letterman, instead Rivers was even more critical of Adele and her weight.
"It's not mean. She's a chubby lady who's very, very rich, and she should just calm down -- or lose weight! She wanted an apology, so I took an ad out on her ass. I said, 'You are not fat.' And then I had room for a lot of other ads," Rivers quipped. "Adele is beautiful and successful and has what, $100 million? Let's face reality: she's fat!"
What do you think, plain mean or simply saying it like it is?
She is fat and needs to lose weight but I bet she already knew that and didn't need anyone else to tell her.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of etiquette, it's just rude to speak about somebody's weight like that. Weight is one of those 'sensitive issues' you approach with tact...But then again, it's Joan Rivers...She's not particularly known for being tactful. And that's putting it lightly.
ReplyDeleteIf you are not a friend or a relative who actually cares about me, then you have no right to comment on my weight. I know I'm fat, there is no need for you to tell me just to make yourself seem funny. In my opinion Joan is wrong. Will Adele being thinner make any difference to Joan's life? I think not.
ReplyDeleteJoan Rivers under her cover of fashion police is just mean and insensitive.
ReplyDeleteTo be sincere, Joan is right but she could have said it with more tact, which Joan lacks.
ReplyDeleteJoan Rivers is just being Joan Rivers.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Nana and Madame Sting. I doubt that Adele looks in a mirror and sees a size zero model. Anyone who's overweight KNOWS they are overweight. Family and friends may step in if they see that it's starting to affect their health but if you don't know them like that, keep your observations to yourself. Plus, we all know Joan was doing it to be bitchy, not helpful. She didn't mention health ONCE. She just likes being mean, pressing buttons and making fun of people because that's what makes her popular and earns her that cheque at the end of the month.
ReplyDeletePlease Joan Rivers should leave Adele alone
ReplyDeleteAs opposed to the talentless nudists who prance about in music videos! Why does everyone have to be thin? Not everybody wants to eat lettuce all day even though they have millions. People are talking about her as if she's obese, has anyone thought that she may actually be happy with her size, thin does not mean healthy!
