Miley Cyrus performed at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards yesterday, and her performance involved lots of twerking. No problem about that, right? Well, after her single, she stripped to a nude latex two-piece and sang "Blurred Lines" with Robin Thicke. Miley went ahead to grab her singing partner's groin more than once, as well as grinding on him among other 18+ dance moves.
The public via Twitter immediately went off on Miley. People felt uncomfortable since the VMA Show is meant for the whole family. Also bear in mind that Miley Cyrus is engaged to Liam Hemsworth and Robin Thicke is married, and his wife, Paula Patton, was even in the audience. I doubt anyone envied the two performers partners at that point, Whatever they felt or didn't feel, the public will fill in the gaps.
Now my question is, if you were either of their partners, how would you feel?
I don't really think that there's anything to feel. Robin Thicke is in the entertainment business, and unfortunately, this is part of the business. The mad did a video with naked girls (which his wife encouraged and approved of), so I doubt if she will have qualms with this one. Plus, she probably knew of it before it happened anyway. There had to be rehearsals.

What made it uncomfortable was that it was too much for a family show AND it was Miley. We wouldn't be so up in arms if Rihanna did that.
Media takeout says she was vexing, and wanted to get a piece of Miley Cyrus, hahaha...

ReplyDeleteNever thought of the VMAs as a family show. Madonna kissed Brittany there. I guess Vera is right though. No one would have batted an eye if it had been someone else. Its just hard to see when I remember her as Hannah Montana. Then again...that was the point, right?

DeleteI dont Robin Thicke had much of a say. REhearsals are very different from the real performance and Im almost willing to bet that Miley was high on something before she went in (reference opening scene). Robin Thicke could just stand there and roll with the punches because Miley did all the work. apart from a waist hug Thicke was not grabbing all on miley.

Miley is the next good girl gone bad. To them she's all grown up and needs to play the slutty part. Haven't we seen this before? Britney, Christina, Rihanna?
