Sherri Shepherd, a co-host on "The View", and her husband Lamar Sally are announced to be legally separated and heading for divorce. Lamar Sally and Sherri Shepherd were married in 2011 at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago, and I remember watching clips and pictures from the wedding on an episode of The View. They looked so happy and in love, so I can just imagine how sad this time must be for them.
According to TMZ, Lamar Sally filed the separation papers on May 2 and is already living in California while Sherri is in New York where The View is taped. This is Sherri Shepherd's second marriage, she divorced her first husband of eight years, Jeff Tarpley, in 2009 after she learned he was having an affair. She has a son, Jeffrey, from that previous marriage.
TMZ also reports that Lamar's legal documents indicate he wants full legal and physical custody of the couple's unborn child, expected via a surrogate this summer. He wants Sherri to only have visitation rights. Lamar also wants spousal support and he wants the prenup invalidated based on fraud. Lamar wants an order preventing Sherri from interfering with his ability to take the kid with him after the birth.
This sounds all kinds of acrimonious. I hope they are able to work it out.
