Man Stabs Prostitute After She Refuses To Refund N800 From The N1,000 Charge
Shola Egunle, a 26-year-old Banking and Finance polytechnic graduate, has been charged before a Magistrate court for stabbing a commercial sex worker.
Egunle who lives at 17, Fdafunmi Street, Iyana Ipaja, allegedly stabbed Joy Osasuwa after he made love to her at a hotel located at Otto Railway Crossing in Oyingbo area of Lagos on August 12.
Reports have it that the suspect demanded a balance of N800 from the N1000 he gave the victim for her service on the grounds that he did not “complete the act”.
When the victim refused to comply with the suspect's demand, he got angry and a fight ensued in which he beat the victim brutally before stabbing her on the breast and on her back with a kitchen knife he found in her apartment.
The prosecutor, inspector A. U. Moses, told the court that the offence is punishable under section 243 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011.
The defendant’s counsel, Obi Simon, informed the court that both parties have agreed to settle the matter out of court and urged the court to grant the defendant bail in a most liberal term and adjourn for a very short date.
The magistrate, K. O Ogundare, has granted the suspect bail for the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
This story is one reason commercial sex work needs to be regulated as Patoo Abraham and her group has been asking!
