Police and officials at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, have released a statement on a 17-year-old who posed as a doctor, saying they agreed not to charge the teenager who is reported to have been ill and off his medication.
The black male teenage posing as a doctor at an OB/GYN office wearing a white lab coat was busted after a patient became suspicious. The patient alerted staff at the medical center that a juvenile dressed in a lab coat was inside an exam room.
HuffPo reports that the a juvenile was in a lab coat and also wore a stethoscope and claimed to be a doctor. The lab coat had the hospital's logo and “anesthesiology” stitched on the front. It turns out from witnesses and surveillance camera that the boy had been around for a while.
Security guards told police they'd seen the teen around the hospital for a month, and that he entered secured areas of the hospital earlier this week.
The OB/GYN office is an out-patient clinic on the campus of St.Mary’s Medical Center, but is not part of the hospital itself. They released the following statement :
“The individual never had contact with any hospital patients and did not gain access to any patient care areas of the hospital at any time. The hospital immediately notified local authorities, who took the individual into custody, and we are cooperating with their ongoing investigation.”
When taken away, the teen told police he's been a doctor for years. The boy’s mother says he’s under the care of a doctor but refuses to take medication. I'm guessing this is why the police and hospital are not pressing charges. Lucky too he never examined anyone. WOW!
