President Goodluck Jonathan visited Mubi, Adamawa State and Baga, Borno State, two towns that had previously been taken over by Boko Haram. The president met with the troops who took back the towns and continue to fight and push back the Islamist terrorist group.
In his speech to the troops, the president applauded them for recapturing territories formerly held by insurgents. He said that he and all Nigerians were very proud of the bravery, competence and patriotism. So far many Nigerian, both those who have been in Jonathan's camp and his opposition have spoken out positively on his visit to the troops.
While a few voices ask what took him so long, most appreciate the gesture and commend the president for his show of strength in the visit. Many are also wowed in his military uniform, as befits his office as the Commander-in-chief of the armed forces. All we can say is well done Mr. President, you do well.
May the souls of the tens of thousands dead in the Boko Haram rampages, rest in peace.
And may those who have been kidnapped or missing find their way home.
