Student Arrested After 50 Shades of Grey Inspired Bondage Assault On Girlfriend
A college student who is now rape suspect told police he was only acting out the movie 'Fifty Shades of Grey' on his sex buddy who is now accusing him of rape. Mohammad Hossain reportedly tied up the 19-year-old, stripped her, and beat her until she was in tears, after she agreed to go back to his university dorm room on Saturday.
Hossain, 19, was said to have constrained her with several belts, before putting a cap over her eyes and stuffing a tie into her mouth. He is then alleged to have removed her underwear before hitting her with a belt.
The woman told police she took off her clothes, except her underwear, at Hossain's direction, before he bound her hands and feet to a bed in his room at the University of Illinois, Chicago.
The woman, who was also a student at the university, said she had "previously been intimate" with Hossain but the two were not dating and she did not consent to what took place, Assistant State's Attorney Sarah Karr is reported as saying.
Karr said the woman told Hossain to stop and 'began shaking her head and crying'.
But according to the arrest report, Hossain continued to whip her and struck the woman with his fists.
At one point, Karr said, the woman managed to free her arms, but Hossain held them behind her back and continued attacking her.
The ordeal was said to have ended when Hossain's roommate arrived.
Hossain reportedly tried to prevent his roommate from entering the dorm, but while doing so the woman escaped. Police were later called.
Hossain told officers he was trying to recreate scenes from "50 Shades of Grey," and he knew he'd done something wrong, prosecutors said.
Hossain was charged with felony aggravated criminal sexual assault and held Monday in lieu of $500,000 bail. Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois said Hossain is not allowed to return to UIC's campus and must submit to electronic monitoring if he posts bond.
