The Best Way To Choose The Right Lipstick For You
Your appearance and attitude can really say a lot about you. Just look at how interviewers judge potential employees. They already have the person pegged right before they walk into their office based on looks alone. Of course, it is no simple task to look your best every day. This is especially true for females. Not only do females have to worry about choosing the right attire, but they have to worry about choosing the right makeup as well.
Choosing the right lipstick can really make your lips pop while choosing the wrong one can make you look washed out or even a little crazy. And, no one wants to get halfway through their day to only find out that they have chosen the wrong lipstick. This would be more than embarrassing and potentially detrimental to your career. Use the following tips to make sure that you choose the best lipstick for your features and skin tone.
Your Skin Tone Will Make A Difference
If you are going to choose the very best lipstick for your features, you first must know and understand your skin tone. There really are five basic different complexion categories that you could fall into. This would be the fair, light, medium, tan, and deep complexion. Light pinks, corals, peaches, nudes, and somewhat dusty red colors work really well with the fair and light complexions. The medium skin tones fair better with rose, berry, cherry red. And mauve colors. Girls with the tan skin tone are really lucky because just about any color will suit them except for brown and purples. The deep skin tones, on the other hand, will thrive with brown and purple tones like plum, caramel, wine, and blue-based reds.
Skin Undertone Will Matter As Well
Skin tone and undertone as by no means the same thing and understanding your skin tone along with your undertone will help guide you in the right direction. Skin tones can, in fact, change over time while undertones will always remain constant. Undertones are the colors underneath the surface of the skin and they can be a bit harder to determine. That being said, most people will find that they fall into either of three categories. The cool undertone, the warm undertone, and the neutral undertone. People with cool undertones can usually spot hints of blue, pink, or red located below the skin’s surface, while warm undertones will have a base tone of yellow or gold. Neutral undertones are pretty much a mixture of both the warm and cool undertones.
If you are having a hard time determining your undertone there is a good chance that you are neutral because many individuals with neutral undertones will have a base tone that is the same color as their skin. Just remember that you can always get YSL lip makeup products online in a variety of colors and tones.
What Is The Shape Of Your Lips?
Even the shape of your lips can factor into your lipstick choice. Top heavy lips are best suited for bright colors on the bottom lip with darker shades on top. People that have bottom heavy lips will want to opt for a color that suits their undertone. A little bit of light nude color in the center of the lips never hurts either when dealing with bottom heavy lips. Asymmetrical lips will really shine when you use a lip pencil to outline the lips just be sure to use a shade that is similar to that of your lipstick color.
