Curry Spice May Be Just What The Doctor Ordered For Your Brain
Tumeric, a spice commonly found in curries may boost the brain's ability to heal itself. A report in the journal Stem Cell Research and Therapy suggests that aromatic-turmerone, a compound found in turmeric, could encourage the growth of nerve cells thought to be part of the brain's repair kit.
Scientists say this work, based in rats, may pave the way for future drugs for strokes and Alzheimer's disease. But they say more trials are needed to see whether this applies to humans.

Jing Mei's wedding in China was made more of an event when the bride turned up to the official photography shoot with her dress train stretching almost 3,000m behind her. The 3-mile-long train weighs 50kg, and to get anywhere, Jing needs the help of 40 bridesmaids.
Jing's fiancé, Yuan also revealed the dress cost the couple £4,000, adding: ‘It is her day, so what she says goes.’
Jing is hoping to have it verified as the longest in the world by the Guinness World Records, telling journalists:
“It started off as a mad idea and then we thought we could actually make it happen. We’re both delighted with the result and we are definitely going to contact Guinness World Records to get them to agree that this is an official record breaking dress.
Tiwa Savage and Husband Having Marital Problems? TeeBillz Celebrates Birthday Alone
Teebillz, Tiwa Savage's husband of less than a year is marking his birthday today, but what is supposed to hae been a joyful day has only revealed the cracks in the couple's marriage.
It has been noted that since the pair attended the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in New York, they have not been spotted together, nor shared pictures of each other on their respective social media. Tiwa performed at her Africa Unplugged concert in London alone, and the same was the case at Mo Abudu's birthday party and Senator Ita-Giwa's daughter's wedding. The last two occassions were also social events, but TeeBillz was no where to be seen.
Tiwa and TeeBillz are known for their effusive online PDA, gushing about their love at each opportunity. Just last month, TeeBillz had posted the above picture on Instagram with the caption;
Woman Punched By Police At Roadside To Get $1.5 Million Settlement
Remember the woman who was repeatedly punched in the face and head by a police officer at the side of the road some months ago? After a settlement meeting, she will be receiving $1.5m in compensation. The bulk of the money will go into a special needs trust for the 51-year-old victim, Marlene Pinnock.
Pinnock's lawyer Caree Harper said the settlement secured the two things she wanted.
"One of the things we wanted to make sure of was that she was provided for in a manner that accommodated her unique situation in life, and that the officer was not going to be an officer anymore."

Gabrielle Union was one of the female celebs hit the hardest with several of her nude pictures, click to see, hacked from her phone and released online. Many were sympathetic but a few social media commentators felt she deserved it.

#ScandalThursday - Grey's Anatomy, Scandal And How To Get Away With Murder Tonight!
The most exciting for me is How To Get Away With Murder. Though not written by Shonda like Scandal and Grey's Anatomy, the new show is produced by the ABC powerhouse writer and executive producer.
Just the trailer alone should get anyone excited for the show, a legal thriller that is like a combination of Scandal and Suits.
Viola Davis stars as Annalise Keating, the inimitable professor of Criminal Law 100 at Middleton, and what her students learn inside the classroom is no match for the real murder case they become wrapped up in.
South Africans Intend To Sue TB Joshua For Neglecting Building Collapse Casualties
South Africans who lost relatives when a church hostel in Lagos collapsed have said they intend to sue Nigerian evangelist TB Joshua.
According to this BBC report, two men, who both lost sisters in the collapse, are appealing for more families to come together in bringing a case against the preacher. At least 115 people, including 84 South Africans, died when the multi-storey building fell down earlier this month. The authorities say it had more floors than its foundation could hold.
On Sunday, Mr Joshua, who is one of Nigeria's best-known evangelists and is popular across Africa, announced plans to travel to South Africa to visit the families of the deceased.
Emergency workers allege they were prevented from participating in the rescue, only gaining full access to the site on Sunday afternoon - accusations denied by Pastor Joshua's Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN).
