More Women Taking Their Husband's Last Names After Marriage

Recent studies in America have consistently shown that the number of women taking their husbands' last name after marriage is on the rise. A longitudinal study published in 2009 found a increase in women leaving behind their maiden names after marriage, starting in the 1990s. In an April 2013 survey by HuffPost Weddings and YouGov, 61 percent of people surveyed said that women should take their husbands' name.

There is a depth beyond the glitz and glamor of the movie. It was that depth I think Baz Luhrmann wanted us to plumb in his version of the doomed love story contained in The Great Gatsby. That man is a genius. I simply love his mind.
