Picture Weekend - Which Cover?

Posted in: , ,
Hello everyone, how's your week going?

I got some great news today and I'm almost shaking with excitement. My next book is almost ready! I'm using Createspace this time and they just sent me some mock-ups of my cover. There are two designs and I'm to chose one. Of course I want you guys to help me decide.

Yes, yes yes, the title has been changed from Ghost of the Past to A Love Rekindled. I was joking with my sisters over Christmas that my books will all start with 'A', and then I arrived at this one and loved it. For those who have read the excerpt, I hope you feel it suits Efe and Kevwe just as well?

OK, to the covers. So let's say you're in the bookstore, or browsing Amazon, which would you first pick or click on and which would you buy. The first or the second?

And please tell me why?

  3. The second one. In the first one, they look like they're happy and nothing else in the world matters as long as they have each other.

In the second one . . . they're both smiling, but, it looks like there's a lot hidden behind those smiles. No idea what the story is about, but, I think it depends on what you're going for.

  4. I like both but the second looks calmer. hmmmm for the kinda act that Efe is, I think the second would be better. Though I like the first too :) just come and use my face as the book cover joh! I've not forgiven u for going to Nigeria when I wasn't around o *straight face*

  5. Instinctively, i'd go for the first, simply because its warmer, more inviting, colorful.

But if i read the title of the book first, or knew about it before i saw it, then i'd choose the second, because there seems to be a story behind their smile, which seems to relate to the title more..

Either ways, they are both nice. Well done, Myne!

  6. So excited can't wait for book two. I love the first one. The second looks too common and familiar. my opinion.

  9. I prefer the top photo, where he is picking her up. More natural.

  10. I've never been a fan of "real people" on covers. I like artsy covers, but if I had to chose one, definitely the first one. Congrats.

  11. I prefer the second one. I'm not really into romantic fairy-tale type novel which is the first thing that comes to mind from the first cover. The second one keeps me guessing and i would pick it up to find out what its about.
    Congrats on ur new edition!

  12. The first one is better. The happy expression on their faces comes across as genuine and natural. It is also what you'll expect from someone who has rekindled their love.

  13. Lovely pictures! I prefer the first. The people on the cover, fit into my already perceived picture of Efe and Kevwe! :)

Also, the picture reflect LOVE, continuous love!

  14. Has to be the first for me.
    Young and fresh.
The second looks a bit 'blah'

  15. The second cover catches my eye for many of the reasons already mentioned. Wondering how it would look with a background similar to the first :-)

  16. Although the second one fit the story perfectly but If i had to choose a book to read base on the cover I'd choose the first one because its lively, the way the couple laugh make you just want to smile, its fresh and also welcoming

  17. This comment will probably be supremely unhelpful as I really can't come up with a preference, but thought I would share anyway. I think the first one is more playful and fun, and the second more serious and makes me think of a more stable and romantic relationship. I would think maybe it would depend on which of those the story is more like.

  18. judging fromthe book title and the xters involved, i'll go for the 2nd pics. the first one also is good.

  19. the second one. it looks very natural, the first one looks quite typical...u know like something one would expect the cover of the book to look like.

  20. I prefer the first, more natural pose. The second is slightly cliche, with the flowers.

Congrats missy, you definitely make hay with the sun shinning:)

  21. I prefer the first one.

The second picture looks too deliberate and i don't believe their smiles. Truthfully, as soon as i saw them, i wondered why you were even asking because if i saw the 2nd cover in a bookstore i wouldn't buy the book. Well, unless if it had your name on it. lol

    Congratulations!

  23. I'll go with the second one Myne cuz they look more like their love was just rekindled(the flower- really significant).

  24. I love the colors of the first one, they're contemporary and fresh. I don't care for the second cover too much.

  25. I'd pick the second- the lady looks Nigerian. Please use the second :)

  26. I'll go for the first one, it just looks happier, hence more appealing.
