Miss BumBum Contestant Andressa Urach Slams Plastic Surgery After Butt Implant Disaster

She was near death after implants to enhance her thighs and butt went septic, and now Brazilian model Andressa Urach is speaking out against cosmetic surgery. The former runner-up in the Miss Bum Bum contest said on Brazil TV that she regrets putting "poison in my body, mostly because of having too much vanity."

Though she survived the tragic wounds that followed an infection caused by the rotting implants, Andressa hasn't fully recovered yet. The wounds on her legs were seen bleeding through her skirt during the interview. After she was discharged from hospital at the beginning of the year, the model released horror photos taken during her month in intensive care. Now, she's making the media circuits to warn others against plastic surgery.

The model and reality TV star, 27, spoke to Brazilian television station RedeTV! about her life-threatening experience in November. Urach said she blames "society, which unfortunately holds a standard of beauty in which you have to be perfect."

She added, "I hope that these wounds at least serve as a warning to other women."

According to the AP, Andressa Urach was once a major advocate of plastic surgery in Brazil and was known for openly discussing her silicone implants, anabolic steroid use, botox injections and nose job with the media and fans.

However, she had to be placed on life support after going into septic shock while recovering from a butt and thigh implant procedure.

Brazil's Plastic Surgery Society claimed that Urach was given a dose of silicone gel 200 times the amount that the government permits and that doctors allegedly used a hydrogel not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The model was hospitalised after cosmetic gels 'rotted' her muscles. Wounds got infected after the gels were removed, causing septic shock.
