Man Forces Fiance To Swallow Engagement Ring After Arguing Over Wedding Plans

Posted in: , ,

Kyle Norman, a member of early 2000s boy group Jagged Edge, has been arrested in Atlanta today Jan. 29th after he brutally assaulted his fiancee and made her swallow her engagement ring. He's currently being held at the Fulton County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault.

His fiancee is currently in hospital with "welts under her eyes, a golf ball-sized knot on her forehead, a cut to her nose and a blood clot in her right eye".

Police were called to a residence in reference to “a fight call between an engaged couple,” the department said in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. According to Atlanta police, they were called to the home of Kyle Norman around 5am and when they got to the area, they found his battered fiancee. An officer who was at the scene wrote this in his statement.

“When I arrived, I was met by the victim who was visibly shaken.”

The unidentified woman told the officer her fiance became irate after an argument about drinking and stated “she was gonna die today,”. The woman was later identified at Norman's fiancee.

She told police they'd been arguing about the details of their upcoming wedding when Norman attacked her, punched her, choked her with a scarf and then shoved her engagement ring down her throat.

Police say during the attack, Norman broke her mobile phone and seized her car keys, refusing to let her leave the house. She said because she was scared for her life, she began to agree with everything he said in other to calm him down.

“She stated that she began to agree with things that he was saying in an attempt to calm him down. While doing that he turned around and walked away inside their loft and she ran and grabbed his cell phone and was able to run outside and awake a neighbor who let her inside.”

Norman, 38, was not at the residence when police arrived, but the officer saw him running down a sidewalk. When he caught up with him, the officer said Norman turned around and shouted, “I need to go to jail." He told the officer “he was upset about his dad having cancer and that’s the reason he got so mad at his fiancĂ©e."

Norman is at the Fulton County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault, says Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan.

“There’s a bench warrant for criminal trespassing – damage which carries at $1,000 surety bond but he can’t leave until he is seen by a judge tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.
