To get a Samsung Galaxy S3 or the Galaxy Note?
I have been thinking of getting a Samsung Galaxy S III for my birthday which is in October, but we were at the AT&T store recently to get a phone for my mum and I got looking at their line of Samsung phones. That was how I saw the Galaxy Note and now I think I have fallen in love.
The galaxy note is so large and bold, maybe that's why I'm distracted. Atala thinks it's too big to use as a phone which is what I really need, but is more of a tablet. I agree about it being a tablet but I still think I can easily put it to my ear. And I just love the stylus!
I am one of those people that hate texting, OK, maybe that's too strong a word, but I hardly text cos I don't know how to type quickly. I usually pick out the words with one finger, one letter at a time. Imagine what I can do with the stylus, I will become a texting guru. I am also thinking of reviving my drawing and cartooning, and even fashion designing :)
But I haven't totally forgotten the Galaxy S III. I like some qualities it has, like the front and back camera. And it is clear and bright in its own right.
Who uses either of these phones? What's the verdict?

While I do not own either of the phones (I use a Galaxy S BTW), I would not buy either of them. I just don't like how Android phones lag despite the new and latest ones (S III and Note) being Quadcore phones. I still don't get it. I am seriously disliking the lagging issue.

Atala uses an android samsung too, not the S though, and complains of the lagging also. I'm hoping the problem is solved in the S series. We tried a friend's SIII and it was quite fast.
DeleteHaving the same dilemma right now? Looking forward to the comments. I agree that the Note is too big and i'm leaning towards the S3 but then I have an Iphone and im waiting to see if the Iphone 5 is better...
ReplyDeleteI don't want to join the iphone family so don't even want to think of that. So you also think the Note is too big, hmm...
DeleteI have had the Galaxy Note since April. It's great for a lot of things - the camera is SHARP, the pixels...whoa! And I love the drawing app (S Memo).
ReplyDeleteHowever, I notice that it recently started to freeze over certain things...apps and things. It's annoying.
Oh Oh... that freeze is exactly what I'm running from. My Blackberry has been misbehaving recently.
DeleteI use the SG3 and I love it. It is uber QUICK, fun finding out the little tricks on it and I like the S memo with all the capabilities of recording, writing, takig pictures and all in your notes...but for some reason, I prefer the note of the S2 (used that too).
ReplyDeleteIt does get a tad bit laggy, but then considering I have literally used up all my storage, and was forced to delete about 3000+ picture files o_O it's no surprise.
I also believe all smartphones at some point get laggy.
I think the note's specifications has been 'upped' some but the main difference is the size.
My mum's getting the Galaxy note when her current contract ends in a fee weeks. She loves the idea of the cross between a phone and tablet.
Yayy at being part of team android :-)
Delete*thinks to self, 'I really need to stop being an over enthusiastic android fangirl'*
I am excited to join the android team and you've almost sold me with your comment. Thanks for all the points, I think I'm with your mum :)
Deletei am also thinking of getting the samsung galaxy s3, and for my birthday too. lol.
ReplyDeletemy bb has already crashed and i am tired of that. anyways didnt know you were interesting in drawings and fashion. very good.

I used to do that a lot when I was younger, but dropped off and it stalled with lack of practice. My BB is on it's way to crashing, I think.
DeleteI use SGS3 and its an awesome phone, relegated my BB to the background sharply... I only still use it cos of BBM.
ReplyDeleteBeen using it for about 3 months now, not noticed any lag so far, still as fast and snappy as new but then I don't think i"ve used up to 30% of my available space plus i've got a 30gb memory card, only 6gb used.
One thing though, depending on your usage, battery drainage may be a problem. Especially if you use multiple email accounts, dropbox, etc that synchronize frequently.
If you do not have a tablet currently however you can consider the note. I have an ipad, so I did not. Only gripe I have with the note is that I'd be a bit uncomfortable raising it up to my face in public. You dont have that problem though, so its all good.
Cheers,
Thanks Q, I'll try it again when we go to the store sha, maybe it was over-excitement making me discount the size. I appreciate the other points.
DeleteWhichever one you choose, I'm sure you would love the android experience, esp if you are upgrading from a BB, you will see that the BB doesn't stand a chance at all :)
ReplyDeleteI think if you love the note, you should go for it. Though the SIII is quite hot in terms of function, but I believe you should base your choice more on what kind of functions you need more. Don't stress about the size, you will get used to it in no time. When I was getting my phone (an htc one x) my friends were complaining about the size and I was feeling a little skeptical too, but now I feel my blackberry is too small, as a matter of fact, I feel like the htc is the optimal size for a phone :)
Myne finally switched from the iPhone and got the Samsung galaxy s3...I'm in love. It's like why have lived in darkness for this long. If you are someone who likes customization you are on a love it. iPhone is too stiff and the note is too big. Felt ridiculous holding it my ears...I'm the anonymous who had the same dilemma in the earlier post
