Barack Obama and Michelle at the Martin Luther King March on Washington Commemoration

Posted in: , ,

Yesterday, America remembered one of the iconic figures and moments of the fight for justice and equality in the country. 50 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King (Jnr) delivered his rousing I have a Dream speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC in front of a crowd of hundreds of thousands who had marched to Washington to demand their civil rights.

Barack Obama, the first ever black president of the United States paid tribute to MLK and his speech, giving respect where it is due. In his speech Barack did not fail to mention how his presidency marks somewhat of the beginning of the realization of MLK's dream of equality and justice and civil liberties for all, irrespective of race.

Standing with Barack was Michelle Obama, the couple who made history with their children as the first black 'first family' in the White House. God bless them.
