Thomas Eric Duncan, the Ebola patient in Dallas has died, according to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital where he was being treated.
This is so sad because just yesterday, his son Karsiah Duncan had spoken out for the first time since his father was admitted, saying "I want to thank God for letting me come out here today and thank everybody who's been praying. ... I want to thank the hospital for helping my dad stay alive."
The hospital released the following statement about Thomas Eric Duncan's death:
It is with profound sadness and heartfelt disappointment that we must inform you of the death of Thomas Eric Duncan this morning at 7:51 am. Mr. Duncan succumbed to an insidious disease, Ebola. He fought courageously in this battle. Our professionals, the doctors and nurses in the unit, as well as the entire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas community, are also grieving his passing. We have offered the family our support and condolences at this difficult time.
Duncan's daughter, Youngor Jallah, was distraught after learning of her father's death, telling ABC News through tears; “I am not okay and I don’t know what to do.”
May his soul rest in peace.
