Should Mama June Lose Custody of Her Children?

Posted in: , ,

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo may be going off the air, but the child molester saga continues, due in big part to the mom, Mama June. Even after her eldest daughter came forward to reveal that she was the child molested, the matriach of the show has appeared in new pictures with her on-again boyfriend, Mark McDaniel where he's playing with her young children.

Mama June and McDaniel have reportedly started dating again after he was released from prison in March. He served 10 years for aggravated child molestation.

Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson is the 9 year old youngest daughter of Mama June and the main star of their reality TV show as a child contestant of beauty pageants.

On Saturday, the eldest daughter Anna Marie "Chickadee" Cardwell, who is now 20, told People magazine that she was the one that McDaniel, 53, molested when she was 8 and he and Mama June were dating the first time.

However, the elder daughter says she's not sure about the news and photos indicating Shannon and McDaniel are dating. Cardwell is now a mom herself to a 2-year old daughter and says if her mother is dating the convicted molester, then she would stop her from seeing her granddaughter.

"Mama said the story isn't true and she said she hasn't seen Mark since he's been out of jail. I'm hearing one story from Mama and another one from someone else. I would not let her see Kaitlyn unless Mark is out of the picture or away because I don't want him nowhere near my child."

New reports indicate that Child Protection Services are looking into the case, as a CPS source told RadarOnline.

"Social workers will be making formal contact with all of June’s children, and any other minors that might have come into contact with Mark McDaniel. This is being taken very, very seriously by the department."

Susan Boatwright of Georgia's Division of Family and Child Services told People:

"From our point of view, when there are young children who are not able to protect themselves that are in daily contact or living with a sex offender, someone would go out and assess the situation and decide whether the children can stay there or not. If we thought a child was in harm's way in any way, shape or form, we would develop a safety plan and make sure the children are not around an offender."

Do you think Mama June is showing good judgement in dating this guy or allowing him around her 9-year-old daughter, Alana?
