Charles Manson is serving a life sentence in jail for several murders and is now 80 years old, but he has his core fans, and one of them is supposed in love with him. I don't understand that, but what is even more baffling is that America will grant such a man the license to get married in jail!
The bride is 26 year old Afton Elaine Burton who has spent the past nine years trying to prove the innocence of Charles Manson, and with their marriage license, they can have a wedding in prison and she becomes his family and all that comes with the marriage. I'm just shaking my head.
Manson was jailed in 1970 after being convicted of the notorious murders of pregnant actress Sharon Tate and six others. But Burton, who goes by the name Star, runs a fan site for her husband-to-be, and insists she loves the convicted felon and can't wait to be married to him.
The only intelligent part of this news is that as a life prisoner with no parole date, Manson is not entitled to conjugal visits. So though he will soon have a young wife, they'll probably not be having any children.
But Burton is not worried. The future bride insists her main focus is on clearing her sweetheart’s name, and being married will make that easier. "There's certain things next of kin can do," she says.
Prison weddings are held on the first Saturday of each month, and the couple have 3months to use their license. Burton says she expects to say her vows in an inmate visiting room at the jail, and the couple will be entitled to invite 10 non-inmate guests to their occasion.
My heart goes out to the families of the victims that Charles Manson killed.
