Posted in: , , ,

Myles Munroe, his wife and several other people, have died in a small plane crash Sunday afternoon in the Bahamas, Munroe's ministry said Sunday night. Myles Munroe was an internationally known minister, author and motivational speaker. The Bahamian aviation ministry confirmed that there were "some fatalities" among the nine people on board.

Munroe’s ministry Facebook page has posted a note saying:

“On behalf of Myles Munroe International and ITWLA. We would like to inform you that the Global Leadership Forum will continue. The Forum will be for two and a half days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning). This is what Dr. Munroe would have wanted. Please keep his family and the ministry in prayers.”
According to NBC, a Learjet 36 carrying the ministry officials crashed at 5:10 p.m. ET while making a landing approach at Grand Bahama International Airport.

Dave Burrows, head of youth ministries for Munroe's non-denominational Bahamas Faith Ministries International, broke the news at a press conference Sunday night. He said that Munroe's wife, Ruth, and the ministry's senior vice president, Pastor Richard Pinder, were among those killed in the crash.

Charisma news reports that Munroe's daughter was also among those killed in the crash. Burrows said a small number of other people were on board the plane, along with two pilots, none of whom were immediately identified.

Myles Munroe was 60 years old, and frequently appeared before mass audiences at Christian events with other widely known preachers, like Bishop T.D. Jakes. He wrote or co-wrote more than 100 inspirational and motivational books, many of which were best-sellers in the Caribbean and Africa.

He and his team were headed for the Grand Bahama 2014 Global Leadership Forum which starts today November 10. Below is a photo taken before the flight took off.
