After their daughter Jessa Duggar and new husband Ben Seewald got some backlash for posting a racy kiss pic on their Instagram, 19 Kids & Counting parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, shared their kiss at the wedding and called for other married couples to share theirs too to show there's nothing wrong with love and sex in marriage.
They wrote this caption with the photo above;
God designed marriage to be a loving, dynamic relationship between a husband and wife for a lifetime. God loves marriage and it is supposed to be full of love, joy, fun and romance. Marriage is where romance belongs! Recently, Ben & Jessa received some criticism for posting a kissing picture. We are so grateful they waited to share their first kiss until after marriage. We’ve been married 30 years and are still in love! We had fun trying to duplicate Ben and Jessa's happily married kissing picture. We challenge all married couples to take a happily married picture and post it here:
However, RadarOnline is reporting that when some married gay couples posted their own pictures, the Duggar Family page took them down, and blocked the posters.
LGBT activist Charles Chan Massey says he posted a photo of he and husband Joseph Chan kissing soon after the Duggar post went up but it was removed less than an hour later.
The caption said, ‘Happily together twenty years, legally married one year because we were waiting for the laws to catch up with us, #loveislove. My post was soon deleted and I was banned from commenting, liking and posting any comments or photographs on their page. We learned how narrow minded people can be.
Another gay fan of the show John Becker says he also posted a kissing photo of him and husband to the Duggars’ page yesterday morning. Again, his picture was deleted, and he was blocked from commenting or liking other posts on the page.
It made me a little sad because there were so many beautiful photos, I wanted to leave positive comments. I was surprised that [the photo] was deleted so quickly. It’s their space and they have the right to delete what they want, but it says a lot about them how threatened they seem to feel by other loving couples. I thought it was very telling the way they handled it. It was a celebration of not just a narrow vision of love, but a broader, more inclusive love more reflective of a 21st century world.
Before Becker’s post was deleted however, it was liked by more than two hundred people. He reposted the image on his own page, and his explanation that he had been censored by the Duggar page got him loads of support and outcry against the Duggars.
Dozens of other same-sex photos were also said to have been deleted from the Duggars page.
But seriously, knowing that the Duggars represent the ultra-conservative side of Christianity, and have not hidden their support of anti-gay lobbying groups, why did the gay camp go there in the first place?
